Unable to block/report players with special characters

Trying to block someone on the forums but the special characters in their name won’t allow them to be found. I won’t type their full name, but these are some of the characters preventing it. ðöø

Is there any other way to block someone if it returns “no matches found”. Seeing more trolls do this to prevent users from searching their names. It also prevents their profiles from being searched on third party sites and makes in game reports more difficult as well. Not sure why these characters are allowed if they break the game/forums.

Appreciate any help. If there is a better place to direct this, just let me know.

So, you have tried clicking their name on the forums, and used the drop down. Going from normal to ignored.

I usually just manage it through the users panel. That works. Thanks.

Would still be nice if they restricted those special characters.

Right click report works the same, no matter what characters they use.

Why? Because you don’t know how to find them on an ASCII chart? Most of these characters are letters from different languages, other than English.

You can make that suggestion on the website bug forum it serves a a suggestion feedback for the forums.

It’s more for post match reporting in PvP via email.

I know how to find and type them, but it makes searching for those players difficult or impossible if you need to confirm something. Third party sites don’t support them.

Character names shouldn’t break functionality.

There’s nothing you need to search for or confirm when reporting someone. If you must report something through email (which is not the preferred method, just a last resort option), you can describe the letter (o with an accent over it).

Same with third party sites. There’s no need to use a third party site for any confirmation. If there’s a need to report them, then simply report them and give all the information you have. Basic spelling, describe the special characters (or know the names of the special characters: two dots over a letter is an umlaut, as an example).

Nothing is broken, though. You don’t have to confirm anything, give any evidence/proof, spell everything exactly right, any of that.

If you need to use the last resort, then give all the information you can, and move on. It’s not hard to do.

Providing evidence of cheating, screenshots or video, can’t be done through the in game report function and it’s not the preferred method.

I am unable to find these players with special characters. This is broken.

The topic has already been resolved. I have no idea why you continue to press this.

Is not needed. They do not accept screenshots or videos as proof of anything.

Maybe they can use them to glean a time or chat channel, or even a name. But it’s only to find the data in their own logs.

Right click report is definitely the preferred method. This quick action captures a mountain of data for the GM who will investigate the report, including everything you’re trying to communicate to them yourself, such as how to spell their name.

Not being able to find a name is not broken. You just aren’t successful in whatever you are trying to accomplish.

And what you’re trying to accomplish is not necessary. Blizzard doesn’t want you spending all your time in trying to prepare a “perfect” report.

Same can be said for you. But I am trying to communicate that all of this effort you’re putting into reporting someone is not only well beyond what in needed or required from you as a player, but it’s also extraneous and unnecessary.

If someone needs to be reported, then report it and move on. You don’t need “proof”, you don’t need video, you don’t need to email them constantly about it. Send the information and move on.

Seems being antagonistic is your only goal here and that’s obvious through your post history.

I’m not constantly sending them emails. I have reported a few players in some high rated matches that were cheating. Many were actioned on. I did not have the same success with in game reporting.

And lastly, the extra characters break functionality. This happens in addons and third party sites and as I already explained here multiple times, is happening here also.
