Some things I really miss that makes the UI so much cleaner when trying to use default UI. All personal preference, but I’m not getting any younger.
Stack counter - On icons the stack counter texts are too small and sometimes impossible to see with the color of the spell. Allowing to change the font size and even location would be a huge improvement. I’ve always had my stack counters at the top of my spell icon and probably twice the size. I also used different font text but that isn’t really required.
Padding - I feel like all the spells having a minimum of 2 for padding makes it seem there is an huge gap between spells. Especially with the border color that default allows. It almost feels like it blends in to the environment. Just allow 0 padding, I’ve honestly never understood this since the default UI came out. Could even add like background or something to fill in the gaps.
Spell Desaturation - One of the things I truly never noticed how much I like it until it was gone. Please allow color desaturation when spells are on cooldown. Again, the spell cd text is a bit small (like the stack counter) and tends to get lost once the spell is to be off cd soon. Also, the spell being the same opacity while on cd as the spells that aren’t, is just weird. Easy to detect early when the CD initially started but not towards the end when trying to do quick glances.
Cooldown tracker - this I really just don’t understand yet. Maybe I need to play with it more. I can just add another spell bar and do essentially the same thing? It needs a centered adjustment where icons expand left and right from center. The bars for cooldowns need to not be fixated - these should work like default DBM or BW. Allow the bar to start at the top and have priorities on which one is on top of multiple are pressed/on cooldown. Why not just allow these bars for any spell ID for character only spells - outside of requiring the tracker.
UI Themes/templates - The dragonflight Ui is a big improvement over Ui from before. But why not allow other themes. Could be class theme/colors. Squared theme (like elvui square icons and map), Minimalist, Classic theme, etc. I don’t even mind if you add some themes to the shop as long as it doesn’t add extra features. I plan on using Masque addon as I just don’t care for the default Ui. It’s all just too…bubbly for my preference.
Maybe some of these are in the game now, I haven’t checked much into PTR but these are the things that have stood out immediately in base game. I know we have awhile until midnight but I really hope they get this right. I’ve only used WAs a few times for boss fights. 99% of my WA’s were just allowing me to easily see or track things that blizzard didn’t do- from extra trackers . to heads up displays where the default was hard to see, to additonal bars if I chose… setting up a clean UI was a lot of fun for me when trying a new class. I don’t think the game would be near the player base without all the effort from addon creators. I really wish blizzard would somehow show their gratitude, outside of just a statement. I understand it’s blizzards game they were creating for but they did allow blizzard to focus on other things and create truly unique specs.
