UI Feedback Request: Hekili

Hi folks,

Curious where I can submit a request. I’m trying to provide my feedback around the general rotation assist functionality.

In general I’m a big fan of UI simplicity, and I’ve been using Hekili for years. The rotation assist is fundamentally different in one regard: it doesn’t show the next “lineup” of spells. Hekili could show the next 1, 2, 3, 4, and even 5 spells.

Something about seeing upcoming recommendations has made this game so ridiculously more enjoyable for me, and I’m dearly struggling to go back to not having anything. I really also think that most folks that didn’t know hekili could do this were really missing out.

How can I get my feedback to the team that I’d really prefer more of a hekili-style rotation recommendation vs the direction they’re currently going? It’s brutal to not know what to click until the real-time GCD moment you have to click it. It’s stressful. And I know a lot of folks don’t even use Hekili, but I find it really gruelling to have to stare at my button screen to see spells and procs and cooldowns.

You’re providing feedback here, so that’s taken care of.

However, what you’re asking for is precisely contrary to their stated goals: the player must make all the decisions. If the addon is telling you what button to push, you’re not doing the deciding; the addon is.

Well, they are already providing a Hekili-like function in the stock UI (they say they have made it less than perfect, but adequate).

All Vierth is asking is for an enhanced visual interface that shows the next N abilities, rather than only the next one. I doubt it would be significantly more performant.

But I also doubt it would be a wise place to put development effort any time soon…

If this was actually the case, they would not have implemented a single button rotation or combat highlight assist. The reason they have is because they broke the API so much that addons they didn’t see a real problem with were broken anyways, and this is their half-baked attempt to fix it.

Yeah, exactly. For me, this was a surprisingly big hit on the enjoyment on the game for me so I wanted to share the feedback.

It might be possible for an addon to display the previous five, rather than the next five…

This is also exactly what I liked about Hekili: It shows you what is coming up so you don’t have to stare at the buttons to see what to press. It has severely impacted my enjoyment of the game as well. Yes, I understand others have no issue with this and don’t see a need for it - but I’m not one of those folks. I really hope they either allow for this type of addon again in the future or build in a replacement feature that is equivalent to Hekili. If nothing changes, I doubt I’ll continue to play.

As an update, unfortunately I haven’t been able to adopt the native replacements. Here’s why:

One click button is too unintelligent, it burns large cooldowns, interrupts prior spells, and gives minimal learning capabilities and feels quite random.

The assisted highlights are extremely realtime, and so it fights with itself on what to recommend next and will constantly change which leads to pressing the wrong button.

Hekili was wonderful. I could play my 5 alts with ease, guitar hero style, and I genuinely found it pleasant.

The new system led me to quit the game in Feb. I came back this month to see if it got better but it’s the same.

Totally understand the whole “learn your class” but I’m a dude with a lot going on and I barely have any time. Hekili was perfect for me.

I’m in the same boat. Removing Hekili has ruined the game for me. I tried, but even though I could play decently - I found that I was staring mostly at buttons and cooldowns rather than the world around me. Hekili allowed me to glance once and adapt my rotation (as it could help me see a few GCDs ahead) without just staring at my buttons every second. I realized I wasn’t even learning what a dungeon looked like because I went through the whole thing just looking at buttons. I’ve grown disgusted with the game in general and simply play right now to help my wife who enjoys housing. I miss my online friends, but this game isn’t worth the headache at my age any longer.
