Uh oh, top 1% of mythic+ runs under review

Well, if this isn’t something that will sure spark some conversation and not just die because I posted it. I’m bad at thread engagement.

"According to PC Gamer, Blizzard is reviewing the top 1% of Season 1 Mythic+ runs for paid boosts and will soon share the results and how they conducted the review with the community.

According to PC Gamer, Blizzard is currently reviewing all the players who qualified for the achievement for players who paid for carries."

I find it hilarious that PVP gladiator has been getting boosted and wintraded and RMTd for literally 18 years and they have never once lifted a finger to do anything about it (but then claim theyre shocked why pvp participation is declining and integrity doesnt exist) and yet the first time, the very first time, pve gets something remotely similar they call in a fullscale hand counting of the runs to check for integrity.

And they wonder why PVP is dead and PVE is the only thing that matters lmao.

Great, Stormbeasts posted, now the whole thread is ruined!

I’m sooo far removed from non casual group stuff, what is the person paying for in this instance? The top 1% of mythic+ is like a title and/or achievement? Is that what these people are paying for? If so, man… that’s weak sauce.

if anything is to be gleaned from this, i hope it means that they are almost done and the mounts are coming soon

From what I’ve gleened it’s quite a bit. Like hundreds or more.

I think that means you beat him to the punch. This is exactly the sort of subject he’d use as a springboard for another tirade against Blizzard.

But as for me, I find it an odd coincidence that they’re only doing this in the wake of that scandal we had with the GM helping some players cheat last season. Trying to help us forget, perhaps? Since I can’t imagine this is the first season there’ve been M+ boosters.

What’s surprising about this is you still have to actually play somewhat well to purchase M+ title/mount, while you can be dead the entire time for Mythic raid carry. Makes me wonder if it has more to do with RMT.

Ha!

Of course they cheated.

Anyone still playing this game for so long would take any shortcuts they could, not even the so called “pros”.

This is what you reap when you turn a game never intended for E-sports, into an E-sports platform.

This BETTER be about RMT specifically and not gold carries.

After all this time and the amount of damage they’ve done to this game by outright enabling and then endorsing paid carries (WoW Token → Gold to BNET Currency Conversion Update → Trade - Services dedicated channel for carry spam), they BETTER not be uppity about people… paying for carries. Especially not if they’re only going to care about the literal 1%.

If they wanted to about face on their stance in general, fine. Good. Unlikely though.

But for it to not matter to them at all but suddenly be an issue when it’s affecting titles and achievements? Lol, no. If carries are supported, carries are supported. You don’t get both ways.

I still don’t understand why so many don’t like carries with gold. It’s not like they are achieving anything of value for bragging rights, because no one cares. I think it os great that excellent players have a fun way to farm gold.

Of course it is. Blizzard only intervene with that sort of thing when there is RMT involved that didn’t go through their WoW Token scam. :joy:

Are they also looking for more rogue GMs “observing” their friend’s key? :dracthyr_lulmao:

That’s exactly it. Perhaps a mount. People are paying for the bragging rights to something they didn’t really earn.

I can understand people wanting boosts for AoTC mounts or whatever because it hurts nobody to have more people get something like that–It’s not competitive.

But getting boosted to be “one of the best players” and knocking other players out of the running really sucks for those who got beat out by someone who paid.

I honestly wish Blizzard wouldn’t keep encouraging this stuff. Remove all the time-limited stuff. Remove top x% everything. Let everybody get all the things if they want. And if they’re having a problem getting it and are resorting to boosting then there’s an underlying gameplay issues that they should probably address. I think 90% of it comes down to the timegating aspect of the game and that you only have one shot at something each week instead of being able to play catch up later.

I’m honestly glad they’re looking into this as I feel bad that people got knocked out of the running because SO MANY people paid for the 1% this season. But I don’t think they should have something like that in the game to begin with.

Every undeserving player pushes a deserving player out of the bracket.

Well, not that shocked.

It would be funny if they just copied the homework of that guy who posted on the forums about how many people he found who jumped 3+ key levels over night.

You know the blue and gold bird mount from mythic raid last season? The 1% m+ mount was a recolour of that but all red
