Uh Kael'thas voice actor replaced?

Granted if there wasn’t any static at Lucas films then there wouldn’t have been these kinds of posts.

Wasn’t aware of that part. I only know bits of MGS thru Nerd Osmosis as I call it.

It’s like “I dont play those games but I respect them”

Seriously any game that takes the effort to animate this has my respect

That had to be annoying to animate

Meaning?

I mean, end of the day, she violated the social media policies of her employer multiple times, and was given warnings that she ignored. I know if I had done the same thing as her, many of my employers would have fired me on the spot, because you have to follow the rules your employer sets down.

Apparently Pedro Pascal was also given a warning for his posts, but unlike Gina he immediately apologized and followed the social media rules that were set down, which is why he’s still employed for Mandalorian S3, while Gina isn’t.

Reminds me of the gun spinning scene in Tombstone with Johnny Ringo and Doc Holiday.

Yeah I think the characters he voices are a little intentionally pretentious anyways. Might be why he has that nasally ehhh to his voice.

That there is the suggestion that a certain political based attitude action or bias on the studios behalf caused the comparison that Gina made.

I find it deliciously ironic where they push for empowering strong women only to end up sacking one.

It just the sheer hypocrisy at play here that baffles me.

Empowering women is fine but if you can’t properly explain why you fire one of them then why should anyone take you seriously?

Empower women as a platform that most people will agree with, because not only am I selling a great product, I am also doing a good thing. People like when you do good things.

Until they become a problem, DADDY NEEDS HIS PORCHE

It was all motion captured. Starting with MGS2, the later games in the Metal Gear series make extensive use of MOCAP work due to such things being an absolute pain to try and animate by hand.

As a bonus, here is a video of Ocelot’s MOCAP actor doing some of his revolver work in full costume as Young Ocelot.

I meant the gun.

Well sure, okay, but when your ‘empowered strong woman’ is breaking the rules at your company, isn’t the right call to fire that person? Wouldn’t it be extremely hypocritical if say, a male and female person did the same thing and only the bloke got fired because they need ‘strong women’?

Honestly, there are plenty of strong women out there that can be cast in Star Wars movies. That doesn’t mean they should put up with the problematic ones. Ming Na Wen is a strong woman, she’s still employed in the Mandalorian as Fennec Shand. Unlike Gina, she hasn’t been breaking company policy.

Go to 1:30 on the MGS3 MOCAP video. Note the white balls at the ends of the revolvers. Those were also motion captured, hence why the scene in the game looks so fluid.

Ah I didn’t notice that.

Still dope they were just “No we gotta include this in the scene” lol

Kojima is notoriously extra.

Like they wrote a James Bond-esque song purely for a part of the game where you climb a ladder.

MOCAP has come an extremely long way, especially in the last twenty years or so. Used to be that an actor would just have a prop gun/sword/ect and then objects would just be added to the character models as needed. That’s still done in such a manner if a scene isn’t too complex. However, if there is to be a fight scene or a ton of realistic movement, then the props will also get trackers added for proper scanning and movement.

Lol yeah I heard of that one.

I’m still mad Silent Hills got cancelled. Or that Kojima is bffs with Mads Mikkelsen and Guillermo Del Toro.

I kinda have a love/hate relationship with the guy for that very reason.

On the one hand: amazing director and visionary. Always seems to be 5-10 years ahead of his time in terms of how he thinks and makes games.

On the other hand: plots can get weird/controversial, he can be extremely over the top, and he just tends to do things that no one SANE would think of.

No one will ever fault the guy on gameplay, but I actually find his writing to be hit or miss. His writing is IMO the strongest when he’s keeping it fairly simple, but if he is allowed to go off the rails, then things can become a mess in a hurry.

Seriously, don’t lie. I know no one here understood the back half of Raiden’s (oddly enough, a Quinton Flynn role) portion of MGS2 the first time they played it. Also can’t ignore the fact that his perfectionism can delay a project.

If it isn’t obvious, that also means I’m of two minds regarding MGS5 being technically unfinished and his departure from Konami, but that’s a debate for another time.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions… What started out as a movement to encourage sexual assault victims to voice their experiences, has turned into a monster of “guilty before proven innocent.”

To say that the Metal Gear storyline is weird and convoluted is an understatement.

I like Dunkeys explanation of it.

IMO MGS3 is the best of the MGS games for the reason you said, the plot is pretty straight forward, at least in the greater context of MGS games.

MGS2 was fine up until the part where Raiden is naked for some reason and then has to 1v1 the POTUS.

I really like MGS5, but it’s pretty obvious the part where Kojima left, because it just gives up all pretense of being a MGS game at that point.

The entire series and it’s spinoffs (except Metal Gear Survive, ick) are pretty great for meme-value though. Like the part of MGS1 where you have to switch your controller into the other port so the AI can’t read your moves was nothing short of mind-blowing at the time.
