Tyrande vs Alleria

Actually she was in Stormwind planning that assault, but you’re correct that Malfurion was the target because he was the one present at the time.

She was sitting in the Stormwind Embassy. That’s why when she does appear in Darkshore she has a Hearthstone keyed to the city.

Also Sylvanas only decided to go along with the invasion because she found out Tyrande was in Stormwind. That was the key circumstance that gave Sylvanas greenlight to proceed with her plans.
Had both Tyrande and Malfurion been there, Sylvanas most liklely would have delayed her plans or just right come up with something different but the fact remains that Sylvanas herself was reluctant to face them and with good reason.

Well, they are right next to each other in the Stormwind Embassy, so unless they are actively ignoring each other, it’s hard to imagine that they haven’t at least exchanged a few words.

As for Tyrande vs. Alleria, there is no need for anyone to get worked up arguing over hypothetical scenarios, as others have stated, power levels can be very vague and variable in Warcraft lore.

I do feel that Tyrande Whisperwind has more battle experience, but one could argue she is less used to the life-or-death “cosmic war” experience Alleria has over one thousand years, hunting demons across the stars, seeing things most night elves could never have imagined.

Alleria is also more active at directly helping the Alliance war campaign, such as intervening at a critical moment in Lordaeron and helping Shandris hunt down Gallywix. Tyrande is very powerful for sure, but it must be said even as the Night Warrior, she failed to save Sira or stop her and Delaryn from being raised, so her power has limits as well. In the Wolfheart novel, she was nearly killed by a few Horde rangers who caught her by surprise.

So my answer is essentially: Probably Tyrande, but it might be close, and Alleria could seriously give her a run for her money using her powers.

P.S. One could also recall Liadrin’s words about Tyrande in Suramar:
“Tyrande is a sentinel. She knows little of war on this type of battlefield. While her scouting is useful she should recuse the Kal’dorei from the main assault. My blood knights are the only ones prepared to carry the weight of this conflict.”

Consider the source.

Same Liadrin that said Night Elves hid in trees while Blood elves fought to save the world

Is she right? It depends on what context Liadrin is talking about. The Night Elves WERE hiding in Kalimdor while the Burning Legion and the Scourge were rampaging through the Eastern Kingdoms.

They were not hidding. The burning Legion happened to strike at Eastern Kingdom first. The moment they set foot on Kalimdor Night elves assembled to fight back.

That was pretty much because that by entering Kalimdor, the Horde and Alliance had dispelled the Mists that kept it hidden.

To be fair though, if you forget about the player she was solely talking on an empowered Nathanos and his lackeys alone until she signaled for Malfurion. By the time they she nearly had him on the brink of defeat too much time had passed.

That doesn’t mean much though. Mal got an axe to the back and Jaina nearly died from being shot in War Crimes. They are extremely powerful but still mortal.

No not really. They did nearly nothing in the first war and the only reason the fought in the second was because the trolls allied with the orcs. And if it wasn’t for Alleria bringing that info to Anasterian’s attention he would have keep his army in Quel’thalas.

I mean it’s technically correct.

Blood Elven military army, Sunsworn led the campaign against Burning Legion on Draenor and Liadrin was in-charge of them. Cordana was the only notable Night Ef who participated in it and she backstabbed later.

Night Elves fought against Legion in WC3 only when Legion came directly to their Forrest and Night Elves had nowhere to run, Darnassus didn’t exist back then. They were forced to fight and they were helped by Orcs, Human/High Elves.

The only war that Night Elves fought that didn’t directly threaten their trees is War of the Shifting Sands. But they didn’t fight for the sake of the world, they only came to Silithus because of Fandral’s expansionist mentality. He came to Silithus to regrow Silithus and claim it, he didn’t even know about existence of Qiraji at first.

Liadrin also participated in WC2 against the Horde, more specifically Amani who were recently allied with the Horde. Along with Halduron, they almost managed to kill Zuljin. Night Elves didn’t exist/participate in it.

“She has neither experience in combat, or in leading combat”

Somebody didn’t play Warcraft 3

That being said, if they fought, I’d certainly be putting my money on Tyrande.

Because The Plot demanded that the avatar of the aspect of a goddess that deals in Night Elven souls and afterlife be unable to help Sira and Delaryn’s souls.

The Plot is like that. It gives to some characters, takes away from others. Like Tyrande being on an entirely different continent, so the Horde would be able to commit genocide against her people. On the flip side, if Sylvanas had decided to burn down Ironforge instead, The Plot would bend over backwards to explain how every rock and pebble burned to ash.

All things considered though, come to really think of it…who would most likely win in a one-on-one fight, a night elf shadow priest vs. a void elf markmanship hunter?

In a realistic, non gameplay fight it would probably be the one who got the drop on the other first. A shadow priest could get in your head and disorient you with fear while a hunter just needs to put an arrow in the defenseless shadow priest’s head.

They are both rangers per se. It would probably be more of a sniper’s duel. Whomever gets the first shot off wins.

But since WoW is written by Marvel fanboys, there would be some stupid dragged out fight that makes no sense where skill has not meaning and hinges entirely on who the writer wants to win.
