Meta slaving only matters to the overly competitive. You can keep pointing to your special charts and ‘make line go up’ all you want. None outside of the class discords care what a calculator thinks.
SL’s class design wasn’t perfect by any means, but it wasn’t outright trash either. DF is SL designs carried over with every covenant ability baked in. It is hands down one of the laziest, if not the laziest expansion in terms of class design.
TWW is looking to double down on DF’s mistakes. VDH is still rocking crazy control while every other tank is shuffling their feet. How can they seriously move forward?
You’re just wrong in so many ways ><.
First people in low keys, even 10 and below, will desire an augmentation evoker over other lusts because they are influenced by this data and don’t understand why augmentation is good.
Additionally I am a brewmaster, 3064 at the time of posting, and people in 13’s 14’s care that I am not a VDH despite the top keys being 20+.
Third the quote you are responding to uses metrics as evidence that shadowlands was not as popular as other expansions, not relating to any argument around the meta.
God comps only apply to the less than 1 percent of players pushing god mode keys and raids… bro I bought TWW to have fun with a game I love. Take a step back my brother
Why do you keep changing alts?
That’s because they’re convinced the meta is top-down and not bottom-up.
Okay?
Irrelevant. Meta only matters to the over competitive in a niche area of a mode no one does.
I changed my character, once, to my active character, so it could be referenced and add context that I play the most under represented tank class in the game. Because you may very well be, to the best of anyones availability to find out, making statements on a game mode you’ve never played.
So it matters then.
You’ve contradicted yourself in your own post. If people are “convinced the meta is top-down and not bottom-up” and invite people to their keys with this data and mind, then it matters to them.
No, it conditions them. If there’s a Guardian Druid or a Protection Paladin with the raider .io to do Mythic Keystone Master, Meta doesn’t even matter, because the actual meta is only relevant in an area where virtually no one plays.
What it does is mislead people to think there’s only one composition to run M+.
I agree, If you want Mythic Keystone Master you could run 5 tanks and get it. But this isn’t competitive mythic+ or even challenging yourself to reach higher goals. We’re not talking about the same thing.
No one asked or cares…
As someone who has run every key at the level you are speaking of this season so far, absolutely none of the keys I’ve joined has anyone cared about taking an augmentation evoker to get lust. In fact, I’ve had more groups specifically look for a beast mastery hunter to get lust than have an evoker at all.
It’s not?
VDH will eventually be dethroned, if it bugs you so much, take a break and come back when it is.
According to the data I saw the majority of players kept playing. It was a large group that left and several reasons have been identified. One was dislike of Shadowlands, others were Chinese players going off line, negative advertising from super sub YouTube CCs and FFXIV mega-buzz.
As for raiderIO, that is probably an indication of where the anger and rage sat. Most people who complain about SL come back to issues that only matter with M+ and Raids. Those reasons didn’t impact the rest of us which is an indication of who left and who kept playing.
I agree with what you’re saying, but I also think the flipside has a very strong case for being irritated. WoW created M+ and achievements surrounding it, including KSM on the low end up to a title for the top end. If they aren’t going to support a competitive game mode through balance then I’d be pretty turned off by the system too, especially when it feels like the only option is to bounce over to whatever class can seemingly get you to that goal.
That being said, tuning is yet to happen on the beta and from what I’ve seen VDH isn’t actually all that durable, so who knows. Their kit is uniquely weirdly op for M+ but is that a case of them getting too many toys or the other tanks not getting their new ones yet? I guess we’ll see.
But also yes Aug is terrible.
To be clear, I am not thrilled with Blizzard’s seeming lack of balance with M+. But the levels in which things like god comp actually impact players is well beyond where rewards stop. I’ve PUGed my way to KSM as a feral druid every season going back to BFA S3; I’ve PUGed to KSH as a feral druid every season since SL S3. It’s not like feral druid was meta for any of those seasons (it was a break the meta spec even in DF S1 when it was actually good for M+). The impact of this balance on the ability to get to even KSH, much less KSM, is blown out of proportion.
But taking a step back a second, my comment was in response to the statement “I’m not exactly sure what the incentive to purchase it if you aren’t an Augmentation evoker, or Vengeance Demon Hunter.” This sentence is hyperbolic to the point of be disingenuous. For the level the vast majority of players reading this paragraph play, augmentation and vengeance demon hunters looking dominant in the M+ meta is completely irrelevant. Very few players are getting denied from their +6 key because they are a demo warlock rather than a fire mage.
Are there problems with balance? Absolutely. Should Blizzard more aggressively try to bring balance to M+? Absolutely. Is it impossible to achieve any of the in-game rewards besides 0.1% title as a spec that’s not meta? No.
