TWW is coming across as lazy and confused IMO

It never ceases to amaze me how many people cannot follow a very simple story. I enjoy the story, but I won’t pretend that it’s groundbreaking. Still, the suggestion that the plot progression is a “mishmash” baffles me.

The Dark Heart storyline at the end of Dragonflight setup Alleria, Xal’atath, Locus-Walker, and Dimensius. Locus-Walker also mentions K’aresh in that questline.

We followed the Dark Heart through the entire expansion. Xal’atath had it, so we went after her. Alleria broke it, and we found out Xal’atath was working with Gallywix to fix it. That makes sense because the Dark Heart is more-or-less Goblin tech. We already knew that. It’s stolen from Gallywix by an Ethereal - who took it to K’aresh. Now we’ve come full circle and we’re on K’aresh with Alleria, Xal’atath, and Locus-Walker to fight Dimensius - just like the first quest setup.

Yes, there are some loose ends. We were learning about the Earthen, the Thraegar, and their memories. We met the Arathi, Anduin regained his Light, and Faerin visited the Arathi Highlands. We met the Haranir and tried to deal with the corruption caused by the Black Blood. And we made friends with the Nerubians and left them trying to rebuild their empire. These are all stories that could still be expanded on in 11.2.5 and 11.2.7 - or they could be threads we pick up again in Midnight and/or The Last Titan (because it’s a trilogy).

I’m just glad he meant Slime models rather than Smile models that was originally typed. I was really worried what the hell a Smile model was…

Smiling is a premium around these parts.

He was also complaining that it was a reused smile …

You’ve never reused a smile before?

My smiles are like snowflakes. Each is unique. And vapourise in contact.

even the caves were a carbon copy of other caves with some extra crystals in them

i did find it lazy

way too much recycling going on these days.

I mean, there are only like 6 cave models in the entire game.

But you forgot one of the biggest design ‘sins’ imo - they reused making a bizarre zone option and stopping the use of all mounts, not just flight. Just like…the Maw.

I’m just as impressed as can be about that idea – for my expression, magine the Gnome who has just been offered a house in Kezan.

:unamused:

Not a copy/paste, it is Azure Vaults we’re returning to.

I ain’t never seen a cave as big as the one below Dornagol.

We are fully meeting the Brokers, who originated in Shadowlands. It’s no different than getting the Burning Legion again (partly in WoD and fully in Legion) and again. Same with the mobs in Wrath being recycled into Cataclysm. Let’s not forget Legion that took us to every previous expansion for Class Hall questing, or Allied Race quests that took us back up to 4 expansions (like the Vulpera). This game has been recycling content since 2011, so why it is some big shock in 2025 is a mystery to me. If you hate the expac and are just tired of the game, then say so and move on.

OR — You can express your concerns in a constructive format, ask genuine questions, and offer up ideas that might make it more fun for you in the future. You have a choice, so choose wisely. Be part of the solution, and not the problem.

How is the slime giant that contains parts of creatures from the Shadowlands applicable in Azeroth? You’re going to have to explain that one? If it was a generic slime giant then sure I guess.

We’ve had slime bosses in the game since classic:

This is nothing new.

Karesh was populated by Shadow Lands, Draenor and Argus wildlife. I understand reusing assets, but at least pretend they’re not the same thing. They have the same names as their counterparts from other planets.

Aren’t Krolusks from zandalar?! It’s bad world building.

Yeah im surprised we know nothing about Belader or whatever and all thats going on in Hallowfall. I then the rootland Haronir it seems like we skipped a chapter in a book or something. Eh…

I don’t know if lazy is the correct word because I fully believe the so-called lower end of the team is working super hard but from a managerial standpoint, yep for sure. They knowingly padded a “story” (quotation marks because in TWW we have hardly had any of it) that would perhaps have necessitated 2 shorter, 2-major-patch expansions into three. So they knew exactly what they were doing and they have been successful at it from what I am seeing.

Is this expansion the most rushed, buggy and vapid duct-taped monstrosity ever that is most blatantly making use of previously scrapped content and goes to never-before-seen extremes in recycling? Yes. But this was part of the deal and many fans did warn of that being the case as well.

Just accept it like many already have and hope that Midnight will not follow suit. Now THAT would be shocking. And if they do decide to continue on that road, I hope the recycling means renovating and combining the old with the new, like they have done with some dungeons before (Mists Scholo vs old Scholo, Mists Scarlet dungeons vs old ones, even the new Grim Batol felt kinda refreshing despite not being a complete makeover).

Are you unfamiliar with how games have been made for the last 40 years? Re-used assets and pallete swaps have been standard since the dawn of gaming.

They were in Zaralek and Kul Tiras as well

TWW is an outlier among WoW expansions at least, with an unprecedented volume of content being recycled from past expansions while making barely any sense in the grand scheme of the story.
