TWW Druid class talent tree issue (4th*, 8th row)

Hello,

This post is to encourage players concerned about the state of the Druid class talent tree in The War Within to post in-game suggestions to change and fix it. As it currently stands (one week away from the Prepatch’s launch…), the tree is rigid and lacking in build diversity. Several utility and defensive abilities previously more accessible to the various specializations are now harder to reach in desired combinations. Getting to 2/3 ‘capstone’ talents means having to sacrifice other important abilities and taking 8th Row ‘chokepoint’ 2-point passives irrelevant to your specialization. These situations result in having fewer abilities overall (compared to Dragonflight), which really feels more like levelling down. I hope we will see the Druid tree fixed at some point (perhaps towards Midnight 12.0…), re-shuffling some abilities and and resolving more situations such as in the 4th and 8th row, where (arguably too many, and due to their positions,) 2-point passives still bar the way to game-changing abilities (note: this was fixed for 5th row talents). Hopefully, more such changes will be considered so that Druids can assemble a larger variety of builds, befitting their hybrid lore and group-role… nature.

Thanks & GL HF in TWW!
Druids ftw! :cat: :bear: :chicken: :evergreen_tree:

copy pasting my beta class tree feedback. The druid class tree is beyond horrible and a huge outlier compared to every other classes trees just in terms of structure and pathing.

We desperately need changes to its structure. Lets compare the classes in terms of lateral mobility and number of dead end talents.

Lateral mobility means the ability to get to more than one capstone from a given starting point. IE, going from top left starting point to bottom right capstone, or center one. Dead ends are talents that have zero connections to go further, and aren’t the bottom capstones.

Druids: Absolutely zero mobility, nine dead ends. Literally can only reach a single bottom capstone from ANY of our 4 starting points.

Start from Rake: All you can reach is well honed instincts.
Start from Frenzied Regen: Can only reach well honed instincts again.
Start from Rejuvenation: You can only reach nature’s vigil.
Start from Starfire: You can only reach Nature’s Vigil.

But wait, does that mean you can’t reach the center capstone Heart of the Wild from any starting position at the top…only by a weird starting point in the MIDDLE OF THE TREE — the Ursols Vortex/Mass Entanglement choice node?
Why yes, it does! In no other class tree is this a thing.

Paladin: Full mobility, zero dead ends

Monks: full mobility, zero dead ends

Death Knight: full mobility, zero dead ends

Demon Hunter: Full mobility, 2 dead ends (but they are very close to bottom capstones)

Evoker: Center start can reach any capstone, Left and right can only reach left and center and right and center respectively. six dead ends. Finally, we druids have some company in poorly structured class trees.

Hunter: Full mobility, zero dead ends (also the recent rework was really good. Druids need this type of attention, pronto)

Mage: Full mobility, zero dead ends.

Priest: Full mobility, zero dead ends

Rogues: Full mobility, zero dead ends

Shaman: Not quite full mobility, Top left chain heal start can only reach left and center capstones. Zero dead ends.

Warlock: Full mobility, zero dead ends.

Warrior: Full mobility, five dead ends

There’s a definite trend towards full mobility and having no or fewer dead ends in class trees. Druids and Evokers are the main outliers right now, and warriors a bit too with some dead ends.

Just unlock all pathing nodes until they can be bothered to do a full rework. Folks can still pick improved Rejuvenation without Rejuvenation, yet the tree pathing was ruined to stop folks picking improved Stampeding Roar without having Stampeding Roar.

I don’t see any reason to gatekeep talents based on skills that have no use, since the whole tree is full of them by design. Half the tree should be baseline skills.

Honestly that change was so weird, and frustrating. They created 2 extra dead ends. Put connections in that don’t make sense, because the nodes before Ursoc’s Spirit and Improved Rejuvenation are better than those nodes anyway. I really have no clue how that choice was made. They took the smallest complaint we had about the tree and used that to make the tree worse. It’s absolutely baffling.

I think its too late honestly, its shipping like this. Worse and less fun than df. Absolutely crazy

Not loving that Guardian tree is the only spec in the game without a single change. Could definitely use a tidy up. Feels bad having to stretch to get a capstone in order for Elune’s chosen to be worth taking.
5 talent points for berserk? Seems mental.

And how many talent points in order to increase Moonfire (and magic/arcane) damage? This is the wild part ^^

yeah that one is pretty bad too, tbh it’s kind of unbelievable bears haven’t gotten a single change to the talent tree through the entire beta cycle. Has that ever happened to another class? the neglect of the druid class and specs this beta cycle is even worse than dragonflights beta was.

Been maining druid since legion, but it’s looking like I’ll be switching to my pally alt as a main instead this go around. Druids will probably get some bandaid aura buffs at the start of TWW and blizz will declare them to be balanced and fine. Too little, too late.

I’ve said it before in some other thread but the Druid trees really feel like they’re a couple iterations behind everyone else.

We were the first class tree revealed and it didn’t really get changed at all through out all of DF. And now we get a new class tree and it’s also not great and it isn’t going to get changed going into TWW.

This tree should have been what we got from a rework in DF so that we could get it finally fixed going into TWW, but now we’re stuck with another pile of crap.

I truly do not understand why the dev is so adamant on forcing this extreme hybrid-ness onto Druid and segregating our major utility abilities behind wasted talent points. Despite Monk and Paladin also being hybrids they do not have anywhere close to the same issues we do.

I disagree, this tree feels like a 1st iteration during DF beta. The TWW druid class tree is worse than most class trees were going in to DF. They made better 1st iteration class trees for other classes during DF beta.
