TWW Crafting system is HORRENDOUS

The tooltip says “Increases to item level based in arenas and battlegrounds” on the item in the crafting window and on the heraldries. Not a range, it says it is this level in this content.

I have no idea how FFXIV handled reagents but I can certainly imagine this yes. For WoW in how the crafting is setup to work now, tiered reagents is a necessity and I’d be extremely surprised if FFXIV got rid of 'em completely … rather than just redesigned how you obtain more difficult to obtain gatherable reagents. That seems like it’d be way more in-line with a semi-modern MMO like FFXIV.

Because you can mega easily exploit that to high hell, heaven, then over to pluto, and then back again. Why? Because we saw a VERY limited version of this in TWW.

Since folks figured out how professions work now going from DF to TWW, folks were planning and figuring out how to maximize their knowledge gain. If you decided to spend A LOT of gold, you could respec your character’s actual profession in order to obtain the patron orders of other professions to gain the Artisan Acuity.

I wouldn’t recommend this as you are talking about probably spending upwards of 500k+ gold. Not done the math but I wouldn’t be surprised. Point is this: by doing this it allowed players to maximize the amount of available Acuity and could as a direct result gain a massive benefit of profession knowledge over those who didn’t do this by being able to buy ALL of the profession knowledge tomes and still have leftover for maybe like one profession equipment as well.

This was doable in like… week 1-2.

If you allow respeccing people’s knowledge you just created a system where this is no longer an EXTREME thing to do but the thing you are expected to do on a weekly basis if you are a serious crafter at all.

We already knew all of what I just said was the only logical conclusion from DF. But folks were able to do an extremely limited version of this in TWW so… Sorry, but your request is one of the most profession-breaking suggestions that is logically possible to suggest. So… no. Your question ain’t the “dumb enough” thing, but the fact that you never ever for the past 2 years ever took half a second to contemplate what the consequences of being able to respec would lead to.

Conclusive enough of an answer for ya’…?

Yes so exactly as i said, it does not mention anything about quality. thanks for backing my claim up

why are you in here talking still?

That’s what it was back in the day where not a single piece of gear was useful between the Sulfuron Hammer and Torghast pieces.

If you can’t read the literal, plain-text meaning and not insert things that aren’t there, that’s fully on you. It says very specifically for each heraldry it increases to a set item level in PvP content.

Me get :star: :star: :star: thingies to make thingie.

Me put in. Me get skill from making thingies.

Me cocentrrate. Me make :small_blue_diamond: :small_blue_diamond: :small_blue_diamond: :small_blue_diamond: or :large_orange_diamond: thingie.

Those help good.

Me like those.

no ones reading this

It doesn’t say it doesn’t have an on-use that kills all nearby creatures either but you don’t expect that. It says specifically what it does, how are you trying to make this complex.

They unsuccessfully attempted to copy FFXIV’s crafting system.

Crafted gear should have its own Hero-level upgrade track that sees use throughout the entirety of an expansion, coupled with gradual redrafting improvements to justify the efforts.

The option of having a weapon or piece of gear that grows with you is always appealing (yes, like Artifacts but with more intrinsic investment).

basically the current system is you only gather one quality of any resource, then using your skills to refine the resource into a crafting ingredient (i.e turning oak logs into oak planks) you can get higher quality ingredients to use in your crafts to get better results.

Was that ability limited to say, once a month? If it was “regulated”, it could be used to correct errors.

Or in my case, I specked LW to make the bow at the start of DF. Just as I piled points to get to 5 stars, I got a luck drop from a TW weekly, a heroic bis bow. And LW was useless for quite some time afterwards. Took all the joy out of getting the bow.

It’s a game dude, gold is play money not bitcoin, we shouldn’t be hard locked in to these points.

You do better than most.

The copy for the crafting system is geared more for “flavor” text than clarity. Most of the time I still have to look at my crafting skill for an item, add a point to something I think will raise it, then check to see if my skill actually went up.
