It’s almost like it’s completely unbalanced. I’ve not been able to do more than 75k as an elemental shaman, at 217. I’ve heard people claiming they can do 250-500k. I I waltzed through a 5 with 270k health with my earth ele up and then got the 1.5 min damage immunity on the final trader. I got banged up badly on a 6 for powers. Had roughly 140k with the earth ele.got a super easy boss ( the gargoyle) so it was still good. have failed a 7 twice. first time on level 18 when I got a tough boss. it shredded my elemental so I would have to kite and wait for my ele to go back on cd. Died over and over from enrage with the boss at 10 percent health. The second 7 was a fing joke. I died to the floor 12 boss over and over, because I had 42k HEALTH! I normally have 37.5k.
Then some losers will come in and say get gud, while whining that their spec does 15 perc less damage than the meta classes or the ring they got is actually a 0. 765432 percent downgrade. I just want my success not to hinge on whether I get the mawrat power which doubles your health. It’s just dumb.
Which powers you get matter entirely too much, and some classes powers are a lot better than others.

There’s no RNG in TC if you know how. Just keep mulligan-ing your starting power, and every 3rd, 9th, and 15th floor you can pretty much see what the final boss is and adjust yourself around it.
If a naked 0 ilvl hunter can clear it, everyone should be able to as well.
Here’s how to fail:
- Pick DPS abilities over survivability
- Skip corridors / mobs / jars
- Pick powers that help you clear floors / trash
- Assume that since you can practically one-shot trash that you can survive the final boss
- Don’t bother to research the best powers for your class before going in
How to succeed:
- Do your research and figure out what you are supposed to do
- Pick powers to kill the boss, not trash. It may take longer, but at least you will succeed
- DPS powers like mawrat explosion are absolute garbage because there are no mawrats on the boss. Even with the mage power to summon mawrats, it is a waste of power
- Pick EVERY survivability power you can find
- Pay close attention on floor 15 at the broker so you know what the final boss is and plan for it. Maybe you’ll find a power like the “take 50% less physical damage, but take 30% more magic damage” one or the opposite. Since you know what the last boss will be, you can make the smart choice.
I was able to complete layer 8 solo at ilvl 203, first week because I followed those rules. It took me almost 5 hours to complete because I was meticulous in clearing absolutely every single corridor, broke every vase, killed every mob, did every puzzle and picked the best powers on every choice.

If you can, bring in a warrior tank friend. They can not only keep the mobs busy on themselves but also:
- Buy all anima cells for you as they accumulate so much phantasma
- Provide near 100% uptime heals to the entire party along with immunity to fear, etc.
- Provide 100% uptime 90% damage output increase
- Charge/leap in to insta-kill all rats
- Do so much damage that you have to try hard to outdps them
On top of that, duoing is so much more fun than soloing unless you seek exhilaration of beating it by yourself.

oh please. I’ve cleared TC 8 solo so I’m not whining that it’s impossible… but rng is a factor

There’s way too many failsafe from 80+ anima powers, technically you can get screwed by RNG in the same way that someone can be struck by lightning twice, so sure, it’s a factor.
I cleared twisting at ilvl190 solo, so hand over the boss badge, your not worthy of it.
The time commitment for twisting corridors is ridiculous. I took in my DH and pally both at iLvL 180. DH tried havoc and got to floor 12, then switched to vengeance and got to floor 15, and was so tired of it, that I was skipping some things, and pulling bigger and was just relieved to die. I didn’t want to be in there one more second. I went in with my pally and basically the same scenario, but on second run, after I got the third clue item on floor 6, I just left to turn quest in. I Don’t enjoy torghast after the first hour. I like some challenging Solo content, and the special buffs are fun, but this should be for armor mogs or something and not for a mount and legendary.

I Finally Finished layer 1 tonite after 3 attempts, The Bad Anima powers will murder the whole experience, I got good ones tonite finally, 2% Health Mawwat Kills, A Few 15% Health buffs, Got to boss at 101k Health. Alot of Damage reduction buffs. At the end I was only doing 18k dps, took me a long time to fight last boss with 2 deaths
It also took me 3 hours.

but OP wasnt on a high corridor. i think she was layer 1.
I have not set foot in the twisting corridors yet. I don’t even do choreghast anymore at all.
It takes too long on the regular. TC can just go jump off a cliff.
People will tell you that you picked the wrong powers or didn’t clear it to get all of them and stuff and then blabber on about “roguelikes” being so random - ignore those idiots. Ultimately it’s that simple - if you can make it to the boss there has to be a realistic chance of being able to down that boss, if that is not possible, then there’s something seriously wrong with the game design.

It goes soooo much faster in a group, even just 2. Also some classes can breeze through while others not so much.
Fire mage with a tank to gather can blow it up fast…
Its def not solo friendly overall…
Just go the 6th floor three times for the quest, or 12 and then 6. Floors up to 12 are fairly easy. You need three hints and get a hint at 6, 12 and 18 I think. You always get a hint you don’t already have.

I’m a frosty-boi with exceedingly average at best skill! I’ve slowly trekked my way up to layer 8, and I’m just waiting on my last upgrade from ve’nari.
I was maybe ilvl 180-190 for TC floors 1-5 and it wasn’t too bad, except I got slaughtered floor 13 the first time I went through TC 1 from crappy power selection.
Best bet is to reset the start till you get the layers with all the skeletons, and pick up a ravenous cell at floor three to use on one of the nerco-dudes to get 10X phantasma from skellys. And always grab the +25% phantasma powers to ensure you’ll be able to buy out most of the vendors.
Other than that, the only power that’s a MUST for clearing TC as a frosty-boi for me, is Grisly Icicles so damage doesnt break frost nova. Then just build for health and ST damage. If I don’t choose powers for end boss I tend to fail miserably
