Elaborate on this I would like to know your point of view more. As my full quote would stay is to explain why my statement is in fact a wrong thing to say. I am not the only one who can view the few who twink to simply dominate instead of having a fair competitive fight as a form of cyber bulling. I am asking questions to understand what the big deal is.
Just wanted to say that it’s funny to see Twinks getting crapped on all over the forums the last couple of days. Not unlike how they crap all over non-twinks in BGs.
The irony is not lost on me and I hope it’s not lost on all of you here.
Just do what I do, enchant a bunch of looms and white gear and run in normal battlegrounds from 10-19. When you level out mail the gear to the next character and start all over again.
I’m not here to engage in a flame war with anyone. When they come for your favorite part of the game you’ll make a thread as well.
I feel that the old version of the game and the new version of the game are at odds over this sub-issue. Those who enjoyed the old version of the game where gear really mattered in terms of player power, and those from the new version that want a “normalized” experience.
I cannot think of another reason this would cause such a firestorm.
So here’s the thing. This game, as well as most video games in a fantasy setting, exists as a sort of power fantasy, among various other psychological niches. Wanting to feel powerful is not the problem – that’s the core of what keeps people playing (even RPers – which is why you see so many weird half-dragon, vampire, son-of-Sargeras RP profiles).
Wanting to feel powerful and exercising that through twinking is not bullying – it’s merely realizing the end goal of the power fantasy at a point in the game where most other people aren’t doing so. There’s no difference between twinking in a BG or a Mythic raid geared player killing a fresh 120 in a BG.
PvP in this game is purely opt-in. Bullying is defined in part by the inescapable nature of it. It’s oppressive and abusive because it isn’t possible to avoid it. That just isn’t the case in this game, ever. One must consciously choose to interact with other players in that way.
Now, whether it should be possible for that power fantasy to be realized as strongly as it is prior to level 60, 70, 100, 120, etc, that’s another discussion. I think it’s pretty easy to see that they should either be separate, or they should have controls to minimize the power gaps in place.
In general, I think that more people playing together is ideal, so I tend to lean toward twink power levels (and all non-max characters) having secondary stat percentage caps. If you’re rocking, say, 40% haste or crit at level 39, that’s probably too extreme for the rest of the bracket and should be capped around 25% or so.
It’s a horribly crappy idea, like totally turd brained for certain, but I say they’re going to do it, they won’t listen to people complaining about it and they don’t give a fart in a windstorm if you, or anyone else for that matter, hates it.
They could care less how many people will complain about it, or if it has been tried and failed before, they’re trying to kill WoW, and they’re going to do everything in their power to do it as slow as possible to milk as much money from the players as they can before they kill it.
So I say, let them do it, and keep making these wildly unpopular changes so more people just UNSUBSCRIBE. I actually encourage it, truth be told.
If my favorite part of the game involved ruining it for others, I wouldn’t cry when it suddenly got fixed. Twinks were in seperate queues for years, and it was great.
I called out this propaganda in your thread yesterday, I’ll call it out here again today. I still get games in the xp on bracket. You do not get games.
It’s halfway pleasant to see you seethe in this thread. Twinks and non-twinks in the same BG are dumb. If you were doing it to level, cool. But you’re only doing it to feast on the people trying level and have terrible ilvl.
I think you’re reaching a bit. I’m reactivated my sub ~4 days ago and i’m here to protest something driving players away from the game. I’m not seething i’m just disappointed and probably going to wait till 8.2 to play again.
You gotta admit though, you didnt help yourself when your very first response to the first poster was to attack them rather than the argument. Sorta set the tone for the rest of this thread.
