ascension is a fraud, it’s all fun and cool while leveling than it turns into the most boring soulless engame they repeat on every server. I sure hope classic + is not made like that.

I don’t get why Blizzard doesn’t just help them set up Subscription login verification so they can do as they please with private servers without costing Blizzard any sub money.
I was really upset when the T-wow devs started taunting blizzard every chance they got. I really enjoyed my time on twow but I knew once the devs started poking the bare that the servers time was limited. They were left alone for years then started acting up and got shut down within a year. Blizzard isn’t entirely to blame for the relationship between private servers and them. Shame.
Ascension did some really cool stuff with the 24 new classes, worldforged items, and mobs dropping items that the mobs themselves were wearing. Proving that Blizzard could absolutely do awesome things with their game if they actually wanted to. But undeniably, there were tons of bad things about it as well.

It can be but you would just monitor it rather than let it run free reign. Look at games like Minecraft or Rust, they allow people to host their own servers, set their own peramiters for exp and/or gather rates and people can play how they like. Even Jagex considered this in 2024 however the community was opposed to the idea for whatever reason and so they canned it - but I really do think that this will inevitably be the future for games like WoW and Runescape if I’m honest. Blizzard just can’t satisfy everyone themselves.
