Damn almost no one plays holy priest
I play Holy but I donât log out as Holy very often. So this data, probably, shows me as Shadow Kyrian.
They pretty much build the covenants power tie in, into role, which was incredibly stupid. My DK class gets tanking skills for necro, regardless of spec. For my role i chose a 99% useless covenant (its good for other DK specs so i have a saftey net)
The only reason i chose the covenant i did, was i knew there would be a massive balance patch to them after raids/M+ and i want the mog, and i know blizzard doesnt stick behind new content in wow so the system is destined for the dumpster leaving mogs and mounts the only lasting legacy.
It really did look when i was reading about covenants, that they were role designed more than anything. Venthyr had the M+ aoe skill, necro the tank shield and aoe pull, kyrian the âraid bossâ skill, ardenwealed skills to enhance furries and RP.
Chose based on transmog & mounts. Those carry forward into next xpac, highly doubt the abilities do.
I picked Necrolord for my DK because I thought Abom Limb sounded cool and the transmog looks sick.
However, the notion that an extremely large number of people WONT pick whichever Covenant is simply the best for their performance is silly. People want to be strong. People want to feel powerful. Many people will pick the Covenant that lets them be the most powerful. Blizzard was foolish to think otherwise.
Can you think of a good reason why 50% of holy priests would choose Necrolords that isnât related to player power/gameplay? Do you think Holy has some kind of aesthetic/lore connection to the zombie war - a connection thatâs absent for Disc and Shadow?
Similar question about the 57% of affliction warlocks choosing Night Fae, ~50% of all rogue specs choosing Night Fae, 60% of resto shaman choosing Necrolord, and 76% of fire mages choosing Night Fae (while Frost prefers Necrolord at 58%).
I can tell you, as a necrolord holy priest, that I personally picked the covenant with the button that works and doesnât feel like crap to press. I hate the aesthetic.
No, Blizz know this. They just donât care. You canât design a game around metagamers. It would be boring AF, it would be fantasy COD. Forget the people that only care about character power, make a fun game with fun choices, let the haters whine and moan like they always do.
I picked what liked.
Yes you can.
Why do you think M+ has been the centerpiece of PvE content since Legion?
People out here acting like WoW wasnât designed by a bunch of min-maxers from EQ.
What I dont like is how horrible Necrolords abilities feel, on most classes anyway. My god the banner on warrior is such a garbage playstyle and miserable button to press. Look at the % of people who even picked Necro, that whole covenant ability needs a complete rework for I imagine a lot of classes. DK and SP im loving their necro abilities, but my god what a dumpster fire for warrior. Funny bc Maldraxxus is like a zone full of these badass orc warriors n stuff. laaaaaaame
I picked Night Fae for the zone and Soulshape for main and all my alts.
I might not out DPS you, but I will beat you there!
Itâs because Kyrian is the only covenant thatâs reasonably good for all three specs (or more importantly, for both healing specs). Venthyr is almost completely useless for Holy, Necrolord is pretty bad for Disc, and Night Fae is bad for both.
Itâs also an extremely awkward ability to use as a priest, or youâd see a much larger fraction of healing priests in Bastion. I picked it the first day , immediately regretted my decision, and decided Iâd rather have a hideous covenant hall and be suboptimal in my offspec than ever have to push that button again.
Makes sense. Kinda like Night Fae for Warlocks, just not to as strong a degree.
I figured it was more about taking Phial for PvP.
Most people are sheep that want wowhead to tell them how to play.
Most of the âbestâ Covenants also turned out to be the most interesting, I think. There are some really unfun abilities in there.
Itâs not going to matter except to the top 2%, just like class choices.
Well most people are not creative or expressive in any way, so Iâm not surprised. They also take video games way too seriously and somehow have convinced themselves that 1-5% matters
Im Prot/Ret PallyâŠi went VenthyrâŠIâm also with the Scryerâs in Shattrath.
Must of took a lot of time to ask âevery, single, playerâ why they chose their Covenant. Otherwise how could ya know at least 51% of them picked a Covenant due to it being the âbestâ for their class/spec.
I just picked mine because I like the gladiator theme to it. The abilities have helped me out in Torghast for sure at times with certain buffs so that is a bonus.
Is the solution necessary though? At the end of the day thereâs hundreds of transmog already and the power wonât last forever as patches change so it doesnât seem necessary at all.
I picked Kyrian on my pally because I couldnât see him fitting in with any other covenant, which is fine. The only problem I have is the atrocious transmog set you get from them⊠makes me sad.
Seems like a reasonable guess considering every specs preferred Covenant lines up with whatever is best for them.
Unless you think thereâs a reason why 70% of the Warlock playerbase just really likes Night Fae and Kyrians, beyond player power.
