Hatred is a result of something. Various factors lead to people harboring hate in themselves, and it is on as wide a spectrum as love. It can be good or bad.
In person, people show/share hatred out of ignorance, convictions, injury/loss, and out of fear.
I know you likely were asking a rhetorical, but it is something that should be said more often. Hatred is no more evil than love. It is not a wicked force for evil. It is a natural element of humanity, a neutral force of nature. How it is used/abused is typically the issue. Love is in the same boat, though it gets much better press.

These are protected classes only in the eyes of the politically progressive. By all means, refute it.
But that’s the way it should be, those classes of people absolutely must be protected! That should be above politics

No. Only most or some of us can get along. It depends, really.
That is a gross misunderstanding of what politics are. You are likely trying to take a moral stance and avoid political framing, but moral policy IS politics. Also, I note that you did not refute being progressive, and effectively doubled down on it.
There’s no reason to not be honest about it, though I understand not wanting to be forthcoming. But it is blatantly clear you are progressive, just as it is blatantly clear that I am not. This is not an attack, just pointing out that people can have diametrically opposing viewpoints and beliefs.
