God, this will never stop being one of the most weird and childish takes you could write in a discussion forum. You know, people hating certain story arcs or being dissatisfied with the storytelling doesn’t mean they can’t enjoy other parts of the game that are worth playing.
No, I just don’t agree with it. “The Alliance” consist of countless different characters and diverse nations with different world views. Even the Arathi storyline made it pretty clear that the people there don’t really feel like part of the Alliance. Just because “the alliance” is in a truce with the Horde it doesn’t mean that every character suddenly went trough a transformation and should act and feel the same.
I don’t even think that the Alliance had a proper change in the narrative. It’s just standing still because everyone has been extremely busy and the overarching narrative focussed on the realm of the dead, the dragons and now the war against the Harbinger. We see the military just doing stuff they should do and some leaders who have always worked together in some form (like Jaina and Thrall) are involved, but there’s a certain lack of politics and a more fleshed-out narrative ingame of what’s going on in Kalimdor and the EK.
For example: The conflict in Ashenvale still continued after the 4th war. The Horde just continued their lumber operations like nothing happened and the Sentinels in return still continued to attack Splintertree Post for that and patrol the borders. This implies that the Alliance ‘as a whole’ might’ve not changed that much, only certain individuals who always had a thing for diplomacy. The day-to-day conflicts of the common people are still present in some form.
We also still don’t know what Turalyon’s political agenda might be, it wasn’t explored that much. Only that he thought about securing other old Alliance holdings similar to Stromgarde during Shadowlands and that he wanted to rebuild the military strength of the Alliance.
When the story already puts specific individual characters in the spotlight that we haven’t seen for a long time, then I expect the writers to really explore the development and changing thought process of those individuals and not just use them as an interchangeable tool for shallow moral lectures and to praise new characters like Faerin.
