For a lot of people it isn’t so obvious. The quests get bugged if you do them out of order (I think), which is exactly what happened to me. No indicators, no quests to show you where to go, you literally have to fly in the middle of nowhere to pick up a quest which retroactively fixes quest issues and marks them as resolved or finished… trying to find an answer to where my achievements broke was a quest by itself.
… And after it was all said and done… I got slow flying.
So, can we admit that the process takes substantially longer if you aren’t using guides and addons?
Even better, there’s a raid boss fight in which you dragon ride to platforms.
You can complain about it if you like too, but pathfinder has been a thing for many many years. They are finally changing the way they design the world again to make space for flying so it’s an exciting time for wow if flying is what you like.
This expansion introduced a new concept of flying in the game. They encouraged it and even made it available nearly right at the start of reaching the new zones. As others have said, getting the glyphs makes the experience much easier (doesn’t take long to do if u pull up a map of where the glyphs all are) and you can work your way towards an easier than ever pathfinder.
Or you can run around on the ground and get pathfinder.
Either way pathfinder will be unlocked earlier and easier next expansion. They are listening.
If that is the case I am not playing it and Blizzard loses a lot of subscription money they could have made simply by allowing normal flying a long with dragon flying. They have lost thousands of subscriptions to they need to listen to all player feedback. Me flying slow is not going to take away from you on a faster mount so it is no advantage at all, but it is very stupid game design to not provide a way for other players to enjoy so they get more monthly subscriptions. I just came back this month and playing wrath classic for awhile, but it will not last long. I want to play retail, but Blizzard loves throwing road blocks in their games now.
Oh, I wonder how that works. Either way people would have to go out of their way to not have Dragon Riding at that point, but it’s still interesting to think about.
This is like getting to level 10 in wow and saying its not for you because there aren’t enough buttons to press. The reality is this used to be a common complaint on release of Dragonflight and then everyone eventually got their flying glyphs and suddenly almost nobody cries about it anymore. Almost like it gets way better if you just invest even a tiny bit of time into it. Just like the game has always been.
Someone can correct me if I’m wrong, but so far what I think they’ve said is that we will not get flying day one, and I’m assuming both flight modes will get opened up at the same time.
Yeah you can enable your dragonriding mount into a two seater if you speak to an npc near a Rostrom of Transformation (dragon mount customization thing)
I’m not a huge fan of dragon-riding either but come on now. It’s easy to get the glyphs to make it at least bearable. Since you have to travel all around to get them, it helps you unlock the explorer parts of the Pathfinder achievement, which isn’t even that horrible this time.
I do not have to have it day one. I just want it available at max level I understand they want to keep us grounded for that . I am simply asking for it to be available at max level with no more pathfinder. I can do pathfinders and done them. I just hate doing them and do not want it in the game. I know with classic paying the 5 grand was simple easy and to the point. I leveled up saved my gold and bam out enjoying the game, but we can’t have players enjoy the game can we?
Dragonriding (dynamic flight) will be available right away, and normal flight will be available at max level after completing the campaign. Maybe not day one for some, but probably day 2 or 3 at most for a lot of people.
And yes, dynamic flight, as it stands now will be the default flight going forward, with static flight coming at max level. If you don’t want to use dynamic flight use your ground mount as we have in previous expansions until you finish the campaign. It’s really not that big of a deal.
That was a lot of people’s early experience with it. You should prioritise collecting all the glyphs so you can fully power up your dragons.
It’s possible you still won’t enjoy it. Many people don’t. I hope you figure it out and love it though. Personally i think it’s one of the best things they’ve ever added to the game.
You have to hunt down the glyphs in all the zones first before you can really ride as fast as you want wherever you want without hardly ever waiting for charges (unless you fly up and land repeatedly for some reason like when treasure hunting). I recommend using Tomcat Tours addon for this, it makes all the glyphs show on your world map. It doesn’t make it “too easy” because some of the glyphs can still be a little tricky to spot. Some of them you would never find without using the addon. Pretty much mandatory.
Then it gets really cool and fun. But until you get all the glyphs, it’ll be a bit of a slog.
Yeah. At first I was like “man, how does anyone find this even remotely fun?” but after I snagged all the glyphs (took a little bit) I finally understood. I also get that dragonriding isn’t everyone’s thing, but some people like the OP almost seem to enjoy making it harder on themselves than is needed.
