It’d also be nice to have an option to hide weapons. Give us cause to use unarmed animations that have been languishing in the dumpster for aeons, and would be great for casters that don’t want to lug around a big flamboyant stick, or have to tote about a fallback sword or dirk of desperation with some random off-hand frill.
I may not have been clear in my post. I’m all for Frost DK’s getting the same treatment as I said for Survival Hunters - turning their 2 1-handed weapons into a 2-handed weapon OR turning their 1 2-handed weapon into 2 1-handers. This would let Survival Hunters mog their polearms into 2 1-handed swoords but also let Enhancement Shaman mog their 2 1-handed axes into a 2-handed mace.
The special allowance I’m talking about is Fury Warriors and their Titan’s Grip ability - dual-wielding 2 2-handers. No other class can wield 2 2-handed weapons in the game except for Fury Warriors with Titangrip so the ‘Special Allowance’ would be to allow Fury Warriors these options:
- Dual wield 2-handers
- Dual wield 1-handers
- Dual wield 1 2-hander and 1 1-hander
Frost DK’s should have the freedom to choose between their 2-hander or 2 1-handers but I’m not sure if they should be given the option to dual-wield 2 2-handers as that has never once been in the DK kit.
The only reason I suggested Fury Warriors having it is because Titan’s Grip only exists for them. I’m all for hiding your 2 hander as a pair of 1-handers appearance wise - both forms of Frost existed, so it should be allowed! Just like Dual-wielding Hunters and 2-handed Enhancement once existed. All for it!
Would love this, absolutely. Letting Casters lean FULLY into the spell-flinger fantasy with no weapons or let Worgen who are Melee classes lean into that full Feral Werewolf vibe.
I would like nothing more than to finally use a sword on a priest.
Thank you for the clarification on your post above. That does make sense and I’m glad you support mog between 1h and 2h for various specs.
I agree with you completely on fury warriors being able to dual wield 1 2h and 1 1h weapon. I’ve wanted that for quite a while. Part of the class fantasy that I have for fury warriors is that they’re berserkers that shouldn’t care which weapons they use - just pick up 2 weapons, any melee weapons, and swing them around. Dagger, staff, 1h mace, 2h mace, etc. shouldn’t matter.
I have a lot to say on this subject, I am just finding all the right words.
The fight to still be able to mog one-handers is a long one too. Not sure why we still have to fight for that.
At the very minimum, priests (and a few other classes) shouldn’t be locked into mogging only the weapon type they have equipped. It’s really frustrating that my shaman, who currently uses a staff, can mog staves, 2h axes, or 2h maces. Meanwhile, on my priest, a dagger can only be mogged with other daggers, a staff with other staves, a wand with other wands, etc.
This post to me is actually a better argument against Cosmetic items and a return to actual items only for transmog.
So instead of making a lazy Maldraxxus cosmetic set, they actually make a Cloth, Leather, Mail and Plate set and the transmog restrictions apply.
Because let’s face it, the brunt of the argument here is “S2 Cosmetic sets and Korthia/Torghast Shoulders bad”.
I have to congratulate you. This isn’t a post, it’s an in-depth dissertation. And yet, you’ve kept it interesting while detailed, backed up with graphics and arguments to your point.
Well done.
Class-based transmog should still be restricted. Change my mind.
Not even - in fact, I only bring up S2 Cosmetic SL sets/Korthia sets when talking about Class Silhouette for one particular example.
My argument for Class Silhouettes = Dead still applies
Your monk can still transmog into a loincloth and slap people with Fish
Your Paladin can still wear a farmers outfit and slap people with a shovel
Your mage can still transmog into heavier plate-like sets
Wanting MORE restrictions is baffling and downright silly. You’ll notice that while some people call for armor restrictions to be removed (letting mages mog plate paladin gear) I never once said that - because I don’t agree with it personally. I think Cosmetic armor serves a nice middle ground and should be utilized more, while Class Tier sets should remain within their armor class.
Sorry, friend but no where did I imply Korthia shoulders or Cosmetic SL sets = bad
But this would be going against 16 years of WoW tradition, my guy.
In TBC your Paladin could wear Warrior lookalike armor.
In Cataclysm, your Mage gear could be worn by a Warlock from non-tier gear.
In Legion, I am sporting the “Elven Hunter” set from Nighthold on a Shaman. So that kind of thinking goes against 16 years worth of WoW and thankfully will never happen.
Won’t lie to you - the thread and the video took a while. Video was longer because of the edits (shout out to the wonderful editor) and the thread was basically the written format of that. Glad you liked it!
Exactly, aka : Cosmetics bad.
You think it’s “Restrictions bad”, but it’s not, it’s the Cosmetics that are.
It’s not when you think of immersion.
But aren’t the restrictions bad?
Why can my mage use swords but not a mace? Why can’t a sceptre be a spellcaster’s weapon?
Why can my Warlock use Scythes as a staff, but not the Scythe of Argus?
Why can my Paladin wield all massive weapons but staves are an de-immersifying exception?
Immersion to what, though?
The immersion of a caster being unable to wield a mace or a sword? Or the broken immersion of a Priest wielding a sword?
Explain why allowing Shamans to use swords (when they can use axes, maces, daggers, fist weapons) isn’t immersive.
Or how about allowing Hunters to dual-wield-mog like they once could?
Not trying to be combative but genuinely curious why requesting less options for players that are all within reason is a bad thing?
You’ve got my vote!
And while we’re at it, let all classes collect and use transmog from all armor types. Class-specific tier sets (not the look-alike sets) excluded, I suppose.
Because only real cats and bears use both paws? Nope. Makes no sense.
I enjoyed being able to use my rather large collection of fist weapons as transmog during Legion. But now, it’s claws appearance or nothing.
Going to put in a plug here to have intellect offhands also have agility on them, so that guardians and ferals can use an agility main hand and an offhand. Currently there are no agility offhands, which makes the agility main hand useless to a druid.
Pre-Legion, I always thought it weird that the ICONIC WC3 Druid of the Claw Fantasy was never possible. Even with all the “Paw” fist weapons throughout the years, the one class that SHOULD dualwield them…cannot?
This would be a huge win for Druids!
Hard agree.
