Transmog 2h staff -> 1h+oh or vice versa

Why are casters still limited to weapon types now that we have slot transmogs? On my fury warrior I can finally transmog into 1handed weapons, and on my rogue I have full freedom and can transmog daggers to any weapon type, or vice versa.

On my mage however, I’m still limited to transmogging a staff into another staff, why? There are so many 1handed swords or daggers I want to mog, please just let us transmog into any weapon type our classes can wield!

Artifact weps seem to have some slight exception to this rule.

My shaodw priest has a staff equipped and I cant get a staff mog. It keeps defaulting to the artifact weapon no matter what I do. Why is this new system so bad

When you have the weapon selected on the transmog screen, click the ▲ above the weapon slot and check the fly-out menu there.

Do you have any of the Priest Legion Artifacts selected as an override?
