I don’t think anyone has a problem with the locks its the sudden knee jerk response… if people were given a warning, say like you did when you shut down servers, this wouldn’t be a problem for a lot of us… Like many it appears I may lose a raid spot now, after spending hours and thousands of gold leveling my professions I cant simply boost another character. This was a horrible decision and its not too late to go back to the drawing board on this one…

Interesting at the end there… your verbiage you use… may want to go back and edit this or just remove it because… “We expect to lift this restriction when these realms are no longer experiencing extended queues.” So at 3am, when I log on and there is no queue I should be able to transfer my character no? By YOUR OWN WORDS that restriction should be lifted because at that time there is no queue… ironic that when I try to transfer at 3am the restriction persists… Definitely gonna have someone take a look at that.
Agreed, it’s not too late. Can we please have a 24 hour grace period to transfer our characters? The situation as is leaves a lot of players frustrated and stranded…
I don’t mind the server lock - but placing it without warning left us in a bad situation.

This is stupid. I couldn’t transfer my main on Sulfuras to Pagle like I wanted because of a bug created by the merge, and now there is a restriction AND I still have this bug. Blizz seriously?

This is my SAME EXACT issue… Your experience is even worse than mine. I just resubbed to play with my close-knit group because we wanted to experience pre-patch together and the release of wotlk classic. The thing is, we all transferred at the same time, or rather we wanted to. We were all on Discord trying to sync it up and we agreed on Pagle. As we’re transferring, I was the only one met with the “cooldown” bug, I got the same GM response, and now Pagle is locked when previously it wasn’t.
I keep getting surprised at how unorganized and ridiculous Blizzard is being right now. I shouldn’t be but still…
Side note: How come we can buy a boost and use it on the locked servers, but can’t transfer our own character that would be the same level and take up that same “slot” on our character select screen? This logic, or lack thereof legitimately astounds me. The incompetence is real. Normally I keep a cool head and try to understand Blizzard because I’m a dev myself, but this is just ridiculous.

Any chance Pagle opens up? I have yet to experience any que playing there and I’d love to be able to bring my alts over

This situation is separating TONS guildies, friends, and players.
Like everyone is highlighting; The issue is NOT the server being locked. The issue IS that they restricted the server without warning during a time when lots of transfers were occurring (getting prepared for WOTLK, everyone is coming back and setting up.)
The fact that you can still create characters and boost on these servers is just weird (Salt in the wound for people who are separated and stuck).
Lastly; Blizzard if you read this…Mankrik has been completely queue-less and is several 1,000 players behind the other servers that DO have queues. Help us out here…

This 100%, it just feels gross how this is all being handled, and it seems like it’d be such a simple fix too. This is a tinfoil hat of mine, but I think that the Pagle and Mankrik (I assume) lock is there artificially because I’ve been on Pagle specifically on an alt of mine and have not experienced any queue whatsoever no matter what time I or my friends are on, including “prime time” e.g., Friday evening.
Also, I’m salty lmao. I hope this all gets sorted but man it feels bad.

None of us have seen a Mankrik queue yet. Playing during every “peak” time you could imagine, not even a 10 person queue. I honestly have no clue why Pagle and Mankrik are locked.
ngl, i’d take a free xfer to mankrik. but then they’d be offering us “good” solutions we’d be happy with…

the server you guys pick for free transfer Old blanchy and sulfuras is joke. no one would transfer there. 1 you should of close those servers with the consolidating the other server cause their pop are not health there no AH market on Sulfuras 2 if people move to those servers would most likely ruin the AH market

Ouch this might be a game ender for me and my wife.
Our server was strong in Vanilla. Once TBC came very slowly guilds started to poof until by phase 5 it was a mess. There was no one to group with for leveling instances (even max level were hard to get). The economy was ran by a small hand full of people that trashed the market and maintaining a competent raid roster was almost impossible.
Our guild finally decided to x-fer, but the time zone didn’t work for us so we went another direction. We made chars on a “mega server” and it was amazing. So many people to group with, a healthy robust economy and amazing raid progression.
We decide to transfer our mains there. I had less stuff to mess with, so I was able to x-fer right away. My wife stayed behind to sell off stuff and buy things to bring to the new server. When she finally went to transfer she found that transfers were now blocked.
So now we find ourselves on different servers with her blocked and my transfer on cd. Our options at this point are very limited. There is only 1 server not locked in our timezone that does not have a population even lower than our original server and that server is completely ruled by the other faction. Our only viable solutions would be having her move there and I could buy a boost (not feeling re-leveling yet another char), sit on our hand and pray they reopen someday or quit.

What’s sorta frustrating about this situation is that you’re offering transfers off 3 realms, but locked 6 realms from being transfer targets. So what’s the point of locking Mankrik, Pagle, and Whitemane if you’re not going to offer them transfers off the realm? The logic isn’t there.

The ridiculous thing about this is that:
- Blizz made 0 announcement or warning this would happen.
- They HAD to have known this would split groups, guilds and friends if people weren’t warned.
- This is 100% out of the players’ control.
- The artificial “cooldown” and “server locks” are just that: artificial, completely made up by them with 0 workaround because GMs can’t control that, apparently.
If they’re so worried about faction imbalances, then they should stop creating an environment that rewards it, e.g., exactly what’s happening now.
I’d be singing a different song if this were in our control, like if I absentmindedly transferred and then wanted to go back knowing there’d be a cooldown, then that’s on me. But this? This isn’t on us at all and it’s killing this release for me because I’m separated from my friends on a dead server.
Either way, sorry to hear that happened to you, I completely get it. I hope they fix it in the coming days because at this rate, I’m gonna miss the events with my friends starting on the 6th and onwards, and probably the actual release of wotlk classic.

My 70 main is on Faerlina and my alt 70 mage is stuck on Whitemane. Please lift the restrictions for xfering to Faerlina for those that already have a 70 on Faerlina and just want to bring alts over 
. If the goal is to not add anymore new players to the server that’s fine, but I’m not and will be playing on Faerlina anyway. I’m not releveling it and i’m not using my one boost for another one on Faerlina.

Only issue is you have to have a cleared mailbox to transfer, but I need to log on to clear my mail…so I can transfer…but I need to clear my mail… only a 248 min wait time… ever feel like you’re being held hostage…
