Transfer Restrictions and Free Character Transfers Now Available -- Updated Nov. 22

Here is an accurate census of the server on sulfuras. i manually clicked for 2 hours to run this addon “CensusPluswotlk” and uploaded the results. This ONLY shows 10-70. Make sure you select the correct server and last 7 days else it will return results fromm last year. Coming from faerlina, this is extremely promissing.

this was done over 6 to 8 server time on 9/1, 1 day after the free xfer was up

If you want the population on an all alliance realm to go down, you need to open the migration up to a lower pop alliance realm…

No alliance is transferring to a 99.8% horde realm.

I swear you guys don’t even have brains.

latest scan, 2698 alliance, 5847 horde in the last 5 hours scaneed 3 times, currently seen ratio is now 2:1 horde to alliance with 8.5k individual chars online not counting any toons 1-9. this is going to be a great and almost balanced server

Close the mega servers.

Split the playerbase up.

Let guilds and friends pick their server

Would it be possible to allow transfers to these realms for accounts that already have nonboosted 70’s on the server. I played on Westfall for 2 years then transferred to Pagle to play with friends. I planned on transferring my hunter and warlock off of Westfall to Pagle but now it is not possible. Pagle is 1/3 the size of some of the others servers listed here and I have not experienced a queue on it. It was only considered a “high” population server until recently when it got labeled as full. I don’t see how transferring characters from an account that already has characters on a server will contribute to queue times. I have nearly 20 days played on the one character and now I have the choices of spending the rest of prepatch leveling another character, spending money to boost a character and have worse gear than I have or just abandoning it and hoping these restrictions are lifted in time so I can level and play alongside my friends. Please consider changing the restrictions on the transfer and in the future try to communicate with the community these plans. I’d much rather spend the money to transfer these characters rather than have the time I spent leveling, gearing and getting professions maxed go to waste.

Pain. My friends are all on Mankrik and I wanted to get off Faerlina. There are no ques on Mankrik currently so now my options are level a DK or just dont play with my friends. this sucks

I APPOLOGIZE FOR THE CAPS BUT THIS IS IMPORTANT. yOU ALL DO REALIZE THAT THE PAID FOR TRANSFER OPTION FOR THESE HIGH POPS TO OTHER HIGH POPS ARE AVAILABLE IN OFF HOURS, RIGHT? as I am typing this at 3:22 am central time, i can go to the faerlina server, select shop, and right next to the free xfer, is a 25$ dollar one that i can select for any of my toons to xfer to any pop.

Are you able to transfer to a locked realm during off hours? I wasn’t able to

The stupidest thing about all of this? I am on Benediction… I want to go to Grobb to play with my friends… cant… I AM ALREADY ON ONE OF YOUR LOCKED SERVERS…

Yea it still doesn’t let you transfer when you actually try to complete the transaction

Offering an ability to leave the overpopulated servers for free makes sense – allow people to leave without forcing them to pay if the experience they are having is not what they want.

However, restricting the ability for players to transfer TO these 6 servers is essentially restricting the ability for players like myself to raid competitively if I choose to do so without boosting or leveling a new character.

I have well geared characters on Earthfury that I wish to raid with, however Earthfury is as dead of a server as is possible to imagine. As such, these characters are unable to find competitive raiding environments, and are also unable to transfer to a realm that has competitive raiding environments (much less friends of mine who transferred before the restrictions).

I should be able to opt-in to moving to a full server if I pay the money to do so with full understanding of the queues that I will be forced to navigate, since you refuse to implement additional layers and server infrastructure to support the natural migration that the classic community has engaged in.

Do I wish that there were more healthy raiding servers? Of course. But to bar people from joining competitive raid teams because they naturally migrated toward healthier player bases is silly.

This is what is so unbelievably frustrating. I get wanting to allow people to leave overcrowded situations if they want to go, but to prevent anyone from transferring into that population is causing nothing but frustration as these realms are where the guilds people want to play with exist. I can’t help that I want to move to Mankrik, but I do, and I can’t, so I am instead cancelling my subscription until such a time as I’m able to – I’ll play then, if I’m not too far behind at that point.

Exactly.

Blizzard, what is the solution for guilds that were beginning have their members transfer to one of the locked servers, right before it locked? Half their members are stuck on said server because of transfer CDs, the other half with no option but to wait and hope the locked server opens.

This is a social game, and you are putting your players in a complete lose-lose situation…in most cases right after they gave you money for their transfer.

Our guild has about 5 people stuck on bene trying to get over to grobb. They were waiting to finish raiding with their current guild to come over.

The blatant end without warning to transfers available really was quite the gut punch for a lot of guilds doing their juggle.

Once again, blizzard knee jerks some random ish and makes everything more difficult.

At least they opened options to Ol Blanchy, after giving discount xfers off it!

$80 dollar deluxe edition, paid xfers, paid name changes, server xfer juggles with discounts.

The cash grab is real. Might as well just sell gold in cash shop at this point and go full circle.

They really need to open free transfers up to any of the non locked servers because no one is going to go to the unactive realms they chose and the ques are peaking at 12k now

Blizzard North would have never let this happen

ssulfuras use to be excellent but it died when merc mode came online. I already have a toon to xfer from it but with transfers being locked rn I have to decide, pay the money to xfer another toon after 90 days so I can log in and use my gold or slow down my lvling for logins and no gold pre-existing

As others have pointed out, my friends decided to go somewhere, I didn’t transfer right away and now I can’t play with them. Unless of course I buy a boost instead of a transfer (how does that make any sense by the way?) or I level again. That is a HORRIBLE way to handle this situation, feels terrible as a consumer right now.

Also why is does one “full” server not have a queue (whitemane), and one have a 1+ hour queue all the time (grob)? How are both of these full when there’s at least a 4k + player difference between them? Give players more information about server populations, plans to resolve issues or just ya know anything so they can make educated decisions and not get stuck in tough situations like myself and others have pointed out.

People just want to play on non-dead realms and not have extreme queue times. I don’t think that’s an extreme ask. I know it’s wow classic, but this just isn’t an issue in retail anymore on launches, the largest servers have little to no queue times anymore.

I am yet another unfortunate soul who just missed the window to transfer one last character. I have had long-term plans under the assumption that PvE to PvP transfers would open for WotLK to transfer in order to play with some friends. I’ve spent the last couple of months since the PvE to PvP transfer announcement leveling new characters, transferring alts, and swapping professions in preparation to transfer my WotLK main after its final raid that I am committed to attending this weekend.

Abruptly blocking transfers has separated my main from any alt which can support it, divided me from friends whom I was looking forward to playing with, and potentially cost me a raid spot for WotLK (I am assuming that the restriction will not be lifted soon considering how other transfer restrictions have been handled).

There’s no way to solve everyone’s problems with this restriction aside from simply abandoning it, but I believe that it could have been handled differently in order to mitigate the issues that people are experiencing with it. Giving any notice for this change would have given people with plans to transfer for WotLK who didn’t do it within a day of the prepatch launching an opportunity to do so. Not applying the restriction to players with max level characters on the destination realm would prevent them from having their own characters separated from each other.
