The following items from the official blizz post are Battlepass hallmarks:
Our trader friends have pulled out all the stops and have set up their shop so you can view the new items of the month prominently on display right at their shop.
Limited time to acquire items (yes, items will come back later)
To obtain these unique cosmetic items, you will need to acquire a new account-wide currency called “Trader’s Tender.” This can be earned in two ways:
Automatically each month: Just by logging in and heading to the Trading Post, you can collect 500 Trader’s Tender every month from a chest called the Collector’s Cache.
By completing monthly activities in the Traveler’s Log: A monthly set of activities provides the opportunity to earn up to 500 additional Trader’s Tender.
These are the same ways you earn points in battlepasses in all other games. Log in to get some, complete specific tasks to get some.
The second way to earn Trader’s Tender is to complete monthly activities listed in the new Traveler’s Log. Each month features a rotating, themed set of activities. There’s only a set amount of Tender you can earn each month through completing activities, so you won’t need to complete all the ones in the log each month. You’ll be able to pick and choose from a variety of fun in-game activities to easily earn Tender. Players can choose to earn by continuing to play the game as they already do such as completing quests, competing in battlegrounds, taking part in holiday activities, and even running Mythic+ dungeons. But you can also choose to take part in activities uniquely designed for the month.
The UI shown is literally the same as a battlepass UI
The only non-battlepass like thing in the post is that it’s automatic instead of a separate purchase, but that doesn’t make it any less of a battlepass.
As they say: If it looks like a duck, talks like a duck, and walks like a duck, it’s probably a duck.
i herd some talk about Tyrael’s Charger if they do add it i would hope it would cost a years worth of points sense the original required a years of sub time
I mean many survival games run by private hosts do this. The most popular servers I see add old content drops to supply drops or just outright auto unlock them. Easy to get no need for farming or extra currency and does not divide your time from playing current expansion.
I simply don’t participate in things that I’m not interested in. Pet battles are dumb. The trading post doesn’t seem all that great to me. I also don’t like organized PvP. This doesn’t mean these things shouldn’t exist for others to enjoy.
Rotation isn’t limited. And no, that’s not a pass feature. It’s just a rotation. Old Republic does it in their Cartel Market. Blizz already does it in the shop.
No. Because passes are entirely different than a subscription you already pay for giving you this currency. Same way Old Republic gives me Cartel Coins in very month just for being a sub.
So it’s not a battle pass. YOU GET IT WITH YOUR NORMAL SUBSCRIPTION.
I mean you could argue that more people now play survival games over WoW. Both have massive game populations. Some survival games have much more player interaction than retail WoW. So why not use ideas from other games? I mean WoW took a lot from EQ back in the day. The Dragon Riding was taken from Ark Survival Evolved even…
Why the blood would I stop wandering through Northrend, Pandaria, the Broken Isles, or Kul Tiras!?! I love those places. Being in the WORLD is the whole reason I pay a sub.
Did you support them removing flying requirements from old expansions? I mean players had to earn that and by just giving it away do you feel like it diminished that achievement?
How so? Both rewarded a dopamine hit in the brain for completing a task. You care about cosmetics and pets but you don’t care about people who like farming abilities or achievements? Seems sorta hypocritical of you.
