Hello, I currently play Wrath leading in to Cata but have really been enjoying Retail. Is there a way to trade my classic gold for retail gold?

no.
not only is it an unsupported transaction (meaning if anything goes wrong, blizz won’t help recover any loss)
…but you have no idea where the gold is coming from.
there are plenty of threads in Customer Support from people who were banned when they attempted to trade with seemingly “legit” sources.
that said, retail rains gold.
