One cannot control the actions of another on the internet.
This is the truth of what’s going to happen a lot on Classic servers. Should it? No, but it will.

I think you’re absolutely right. In classic, toxic players and ninja looters alike will build a bad rep on the server which will prevent them from getting into some groups
Maybe not, but if enough people speak up and put them in their place, and use RCR, they’ll get the message soon enough. They will either start behaving and being nice, or they’ll get left behind on progression due to not being able to get groups. Either that or they’ll just go back to retail. Either way, by phase 2 we should see a lot less of them
This
Hmmm, I hope you’re right. Time will tell.
A guild in classic will be successful long before they step into a raid. The difficulty of vanilla was making sure you had 40 people equiped, specced, consumables, organized, and playing correctly.
If no one takes the time to farm fire protection potions for Ragnaros… you’re gonna have a bad time. If your healers didn’t bother paying gold to respec to healing… you’re gonna have a bad time… if your dps was too lazy to install proper threat addons and grab aggro for a second on broodlord… you’re gonna have a bad time.
Actually, they aren’t.
The Classic community here is equally as “toxic” as any in retail. Perhaps moreso.
It’s easy to see.
The more MMOs I play ( I started with DAoC), the more I have come to realize that the LotRO community was the exception rather than the rule. Not that DAoC or SWG had bad communities, but LotRO was truly something spectacular and I haven’t seen thing like them, before or since.
ESO is pretty good as well.
It’s the game itself that lures in it’s players. I can see LotRO having such a community.
ESO is probably the closest I’ve seen, I would agree. Just can’t seem to get into the game long term, myself.
Nothing will change.
I can’t disagree enough about people being more toxic back then.
You must have had a horrible time and some bad luck as I would trade the vanilla community for today’s without thinking twice.
Don’t mind them. These are people who are simply trying to cope with the death of retail. It’s the stages of grief.
Yeah I was wondering where people were getting the idea that Vanilla didn’t have [insert preferred adjective here] when Barrens chat became legendary and the gold standard for generations on every MMO out there for [insert preferred adjective here]
See this post as a great example of just how “toxic” the Classic community is.
You all are easily proving my points correct.
Thank you.
LMFAO this post really made my day…and I’ve worked a 12hr shift and still haven’t gone to sleep yet so tyvm for that
“No u”
Mmmffff… a gut shot. I can’t argue against that one. Looks like I’m packing up and heading out, boys.
The word “mature” has been appropriated by immature children who think swearing makes them somehow adults.
“Our guild is mature” means they all swear every other word. Need a better descriptor. G-rated, perhaps?
The layering is being removed. And most kf the toxic people wont make it past level 30 anyways…
Whenever I see “18+” slapped onto “Mature” I just roll my eyes and move on.
I thought that was what “adult” guilds are about.
I thought mature guilds meant that it’s filled with old farts like me. E.g., “I remember playing MMOs on GEnie”
