I’ve seen and heard similar stories a few times over. Not surprising people downplay it or victim blame, or out right attempt to silence people from speaking up about it.
The community is toxic, so why would you expect the GM’s to be any better?
Some people are to self-absorbed to admit they are the drama.
Truth is, toxic players are part of a very vocal minority, they just seem like they are everywhere because of how vocal they are.
People usually avoid confrontation, especially in a guild setting because they don’t want to cause waves, usually the super toxic people hold a position of power in the guild whether that be because they are an officer or a high value player.
But ultimately it all comes down to what you as a player consider toxic behaviour, calling out mistakes during raid, calling out poor performance, sometimes people mean it as a friendly ribbing but it can come across more toxic than intended, finding an entirely nontoxic guild would be a hard push but I’m sure you will eventually find a group that is right for you.
I don’t know why people would stay; perhaps it’s just because those players have different boundaries than you do.
My guilds have movie nights and drunk content runs. Pretty good over here.
