Total vs Collected Mounts

Whats the difference between these figures in the mount collection tab? Because I have different numbers for each yet the achieve that tracks mount is yet a 3rd number. E.g. I have 553 total mounts, 213 collected and my achieve is tracking 201.

It’s the amount of mounts the character you are logged in can use. Paladin is also normally the class with the mosts mounts with all their class mounts.

Classes, like Warlock and Paladin throw the count off since only those classes can use those mounts.

The Legion mounts also skew the totals, since all classes except druids get a mount (druids get a goofy owl form after they finish the Legion mount quest).

If you have alliance alts, the alliance mounts (I think) take the place of their Horde equivalent (ie: Night Elf cats / Troll raptors) and the mounts that can be used on either faction are counted on the Alliance character when logged in, and on the Horde character when they’re logged in.

Prof mounts can also skew it. Engineering mechs, Tailoring carpets, etc.

I swear, I’m gonna make a Pally who’s a tailor, just so I have the most usable mounts on that toon. :stuck_out_tongue:

Why not a warlock as a tailor/engineer? Warlock and pallies have the same number of mounts.

Not with the Argent Crusader they don’t…

Oh that’s right…I forgot about that one.

No, you need a tailor/engineer paladin. In fact, I’m totally doing that with my Lightforged Paladin. Plus, it will have the added hilarity of “Wait, you’re a paladin with tailoring?” “Yes, have you seen these carpets? Gorgeous.”

To be honest, that’s probably what I’ll end up doing with my Zandalari Pally. Because it’s ridiculous enough on its own, why not add to it? :stuck_out_tongue:

My Mage Horde main is a Blacksmith, because who cares?

Also, Paladins have 4 Order Hall mounts to the Locks’ 3.

Also, as far as professions go, don’t forget the 5 jewelcrafting mounts.

Engineers have lots of mounts, but only the 2 helicopters as exclusive. Tailors have what 4 exclusive carpets now? I know leather workers have a wolf from WoD. I can’t think of any others atm.

The JC cat mounts don’t skew the totals though. They are usable by anyone.

Most, if not all, of the tailoring and engineering mounts require you have the profession, at a certain skill level, to use.

Your achievement goes off this statistic:

Statistics > Character > Gear > Mounts owned.

No you don’t. All 462 of my mounts count on my Alch/Herb Paladin, including all profession mounts. They changed this ages ago.

You have 462 mounts?! How big of a barn do you need for that many mounts… :face_with_monocle:

I have a Ghostbusters-style pris-- I mean barn, for all my mounts.

I’m confused by this. My “mount collection” toon, IE the toon I log into to refresh the number on the achievement is my Tauren Paladin. Because of the aforementioned Crusader mount, and because I have a bunch of the Horde AT mounts that I never got around to farming the Alliance counterparts of. So my achievement after logging into her is at 309/350.

I’m currently on my Tauren Shaman as I type this, and her statistic also says 309. But she can’t use the original Pally class mounts (the Legion ones up the total for everyone), plus the Crusader one. So she should be short at least three mounts.

So either the original class mounts are also counting for everyone, or the statistic actually goes off of the achievement, instead of the other way around.

cries in Lightforged

The Horde and Alliance racial mounts count towards your overall total, but only the mounts on your faction will count towards your achievement total. When you get, say, a Darkspear raptor, you unlock the Alliance equivalent mount, so if you play both factions, you will have access to that mount without having to buy it on the opposite faction.

Here’s a picture from my Hunter. The first picture I posted was from my Tauren Paladin.

She has three less. Level 40 mount, level 60 mount and AT Paladin-only mount so no the original class mounts don’t count for everyone.

*Dear Diary,

I saw a lightforged paladin cry today, he tears were glitter. While I hate to see people cry I could really use the glitter for a craft project. Even for an undead I bet it is tacky to ask for some tears. *
