200 ilvl isn’t even a good gear. And torg is already as it’s max difficulty
not everyone no lifes mythic+. 200 is good gear to the vast majority of the playerbase, my dude.
This.
People who say “it’s challenging” don’t seem to understand what an actual gameplay challenge is. Hint: it’s not relying on RNG to decide whether or not you beat the fight.
IDK, from what I saw in alpha and beta footage it looked incredibly fun… something changed since then and I suspect that something was ‘balance’. Elite mobs got their stacking damage buffs which also made them immune to CC (though now removed) and the amount of powers on offer from any given orb are drastically lowered.
Bit of a bait and switch. Ironic since those same videos also reported that Blizzard were excited that they had a potential homerun with this game mode… key word was ‘had’ I suppose.
I think its fine in its current iteration, but could have been a lot better. I liked doing Layer 8 and its fun to get some broken powers. I am at the point on my 190 Boomkin though where I do level 6 boss for soul ash and just press Incarn + Convoke and thats it, its fun but its going to get older the longer this goes on.
I will say that Torghast was definitely given more though then things like Islands or Warfronts, but it needed just more time. I don’t like to say it, but Blizzard may need to do 3 year expansions to get things a little more fleshed out, doubtful of that in modern gaming however or else Activision will beat them up.
it’s just normal raid and weekly welfare gear. Don’t even need to try to get it (that’s why i’m only 201)
It’s not perfect but I think some people don’t realize it’s inspired by roguelike games, in that its supposed to be hard runs that are random.
Let’s just make it endless and only 1 person can be on the top of the leaderboard.
To the above poster yes, most us know what a roguelike is. The problem with this is that we’re in a mmo. Unlike a roguelike we don’t get any gear from it. All we get are powers that, of course, are stripped from us as we leave. It’s next to pointless, boring and tedious to do even if only twice a week.
I’m not talking about TC but “regular” torghast. It’s just a chore plain and simple.
I just hate having to do it every week.
Feels like a chore at this point.
I like to do dungeons and raid.
Let me get my soul ash from those.
They needed a place to stick all those cool corruption powers they came up with that were causing problems in the outside world so they stuck them here (and then expanded on them).
You can’t just throw a few drops of “random” into a system and claim its a roguelike, that is like burning dinner and calling it Cajun style.
I remember when Preach (the same guy people cited as an expert on everything WoW when he criticized covenants) said that Torghast was so amazing that people would level tons of alts just to do Torghast. As usual Preach was wrong.
I really do like Torghast tho
I like the place. Well the 6 floors a layer sections, I have not tried the endless halls at 18 floors. The 18 floors I will wait for a weekend without much going on to give that a go.
What it really needed was gear rewards.
no it didn’t. the soul ash is enough. you only have to do it a couple of times a week. if it had gear though it shouldn’t have been above lfr level, and covenant armor is better than that.
Yes it does because it is currently unrewarding for its time and difficulty level and it should definitely be beyond LFR.
you’re a hunter. at 150ish as a warlock i cleared a lot of it pre nerf cuz of my pet and powers. it would be ridiculous to reward for that. if you only wanted rogues and other “bad” classes to get gear from it that would be one thing. but we are two of the classes that have it the easiest.
Most of their best are white and green powers that often get overlooked. If you stack reduced CD grappling hook, with grappling hook randomly giving you one of your main defensives it’s pretty much a cakewalk from there.
The sad thing is you need to stack that, crimson vial reduction, bloodgorged leech. Once your stacked up on that type of stuff you can start going after damage abilities, but you gotta fill up on white and green defensives first. Get greedy and go for big damage? You could be in for a bad time.
Editing to add: That’s outlaw specific advice…
The biggest problem with TG is that it’s just sooooooo boooooring! Everything looks and acts the same. Washed out, bland, and uninteresting. It’s become a weekly slog purely to get soul ash and when I’ve collected enough of that I have no intention of ever going back.
Aren’t roguelikes supposed to have some variety? Maybe some events that spawn randomly? Anything other than the same old same old for infinite levels?
Close your eyes picture this.
-
A more diverse selection of anima powers, leaning more into the “unique” aspect. Much like the fire juggler, immolation aura, that tend to change how you play the game.
-
a twisting background inspired by different zones from various points in time and locations.
-
instead of the same 5-6 enemies, you encountered a more themed selection of targets, to match point 2.
Now you move into twisting and instead of the same few boring bosses, you encountered various bosses again pulled from various points in the history of the game.
As it stands, its just so much wasted potential.
