Islands are so bad even if they were only pvp oriented, I’m a mount collector but I can’t bring my self to do more than the 3-4 I need each week to try for the parrot. But in the end I probably wouldn’t use it even if I did have it.
There’s two parts of Torghast. One will be short and get you mats for your legendary whatevers. The other side is longer and is a challenge mode for non-gear loot.
This isn’t how development works though when discussing a new expansion. Every new expansion comes with a new feature. Torghast is this expansion’s new feature. While I completely agree that classes need to be looked at, that’s handled by a different team.
“Challenge mode”.
Without Torments, Torghast is never going to be taken close to seriously as skill-testing content like CMs.
I mean to me personally Mage Tower was the most compelling single-play game play Wow has ever offered.
I got all mine well before the prepatch (26) (best ilevel i obtained was 920 but did get several done in the upper 890’s) and it was a challenge to approach the same boss with different counters. It was a pain to have to wait till a particular 3-day period to do them but other than that they were perfect. The fact that they were spammable in that 3-day period was really great. 100’s of pushes until that final attempt. It was exhilarating.
Now they just make something simple and throw torments/masks on it, tweak it and call it a day. Thats not a mage tower. Thats lazy game design.
Thorgast looks fun in moderation. I don’t see myself running it non-stop like some of the big WoW streamers do, but unlike BFA’s islands and warfronts it looks more than good enough for me to do my daily runs to get whatever mats I need. And if my guild feels up for it maybe we can try to get high floors.
If Blizzard are expecting Torghast to carry the expansion on its own I think they’ll be disappointed, but it looks like a very good addition to the game to me. No complaint from me there.
To quickly summarize:
- Torghast doesn’t look like a piece of content that will appeal to me specifically. Too random with the anima powers, procedural generation for the layout, and a bloody entry fee AGAIN. Maybe fine for some people, but not for me.
- Shadowlands doesn’t have any other interesting content to support itself. I honestly don’t care for any of the covenants for one thing, the plot feels like it makes less sense than both WoD and BfA, and the gameplay still looks like it will be more of the same from BfA.
… it really does look like Torghast is meant to carry the expansion.
Either that or the continuation of mythic+ dungeons and raiding.
Nevertheless, none of that is going to convince me to bother getting me into the expansion.
Alts. Tons and tons of alts.
Dungeons and M+ dungeons will only get you so far with their new gear setup. There is no more loot RNG. Once you get your BiS, you’re done. No more reason to run dungeons afterwards.
imo bfa dungeons were eh
I had a ton more fun with Legion dungeons
My expectations are so damn low they’re circling the Mariana’s Trench.
Unless you just really love dungeons, I mean… I just ran dungeons and heroic dungeons in TBC for the heck of it, I thought it was fun.
I wonder if your expectations have passed by mine at some point. Pretty sure that’s where I last saw mine.
Different teams.
How about you try the content first? A lot of people on the alpha are loving Torghast because its fun. That’s all that matters anyways.
I think the problem is, at least right now, that there isn’t a lot of people trying it out. But again, it’s still in Alpha. When it moves to beta testing they will open the door and let more people in.
Yeah. But it means something when the alpha feedback is overwhelmingly positive of Torghast thus far.
Ah, another well disguised nerf post. Well played. Also buff DH.
Resto Shaman useless spec? Eh, maybe for you but i’ve seen a amazing resto shaman among the winners on world first nyalotha.
Part of why Torghast seems fun is that it does things with classes they’re too afraid to do in esports content. SL classes on their own seem meh but the power creep in Torghast seems like it makes then fun.
Why would anyone think that this feature is going to carry the entire expansion by itself? It’s simply one of the many features that comes with the new expansion. There’ll be dungeons, raids, world quests, the same end-game stuff we’ve had for… forever now.
