Torghast Bosses Need a Tuning Pass

From my experience so far, it really relies on luck for me as an Arms Warrior. Either I get lucky with a buff, or the boss is not too bad. However, I have noticed that some bosses get this “Unnatural Power” buff that increases their damage as well as their movements speed by 10% every few seconds. As I fight bosses with about 270k-330k health, I have yet to out DPS any of them that receive this buff. Not including whatever else the boss has in store like when one enraged and did even MORE damage to me as well as Haste increase as well.

I am all for difficulty, but not when it relies on chance such as this, especially when doing Torghast is part of my progression. As the floors have yet to be an issue themselves as I have been able to manage the mobs and even the floors debuffs from every single wing thus far (at least on layer 3).

Just my two coppers.

Don’t normally post on this character, but going to just to prove a point.

I have 180 gear, I’ve done all the SL mythics (with ease), and all the stage 3 torghast, of last week & this week. Here’s what I will say. Torghast is horribly, horribly balanced. I take that back I don’t think anyone at Blizz actually tried to balance it, and if they did they should be fired immediately. Last week was a snorefest. This week it’s broken AF. It’s not just the bosses, it’s everything in the dungeon.

What’s worse is upon swapping to resto, the difficulty went down considerably, from my elemental spec. It was night and day. Worse yet, (somehow blizzard managed to F this up even more) I tried to help a group of 4 others. My dps is pretty good, so I figured this should be pretty easy. The 5 mans were tuned worse than any Mythic I’ve ever seen, with one shot mechanics everywhere. Which is pretty funny, when you’re only allowed x amount of deaths.

So as someone who is geared, I will say this. Fire who ever tuned Torghast before, and start again. Because right now, this is a complete F-n joke.

Honestly, for me, it’s not the bosses per se, it is the randomness in gaining powers.

There is a buff for Warriors that increases our Shattering Throws by 10,000% for our first use on a floor it “Literally” one shotted the final boss. As much as it was fun, that seems a bit too overpowered in my opinion.

I do like overpowered, but that does seem rather excessive.

There’s a weird imbalance between bosses and specs. Like I just did that unchained caster dude and barely had to do anything. Some bosses though, holy crud, I either barely survive or get smashed.

Edit: I will note that anima powers can have a significant impact. I went into that fight with like 26 powers lol.

It isn’t just that. Some of them are just ridiculous regardless of the powers you get. If you don’t have decent self-healing, like on a rogue, you’re probably not going to beat certain bosses. There are some exploits and cheeses that are going around that are sometimes funny and neat but in no way should be the way that you need to approach these things. The stacking damage buff that they get is just stupid as well, and plainly shouldn’t be there.

Things obviously aren’t where they should be when the bosses aren’t remotely matched to the difficulty of the floors you cleared to get to them. There’s people in every thread on Torghast talking about how they managed it, but the average players aren’t rocking 170-180 gear and going at these like they’re challenge mode Mythics or something.

I’m also afraid that the longer Blizzard leaves them this way, the more people they discourage from even bothering with them.

I 100% agree with this. Currently sitting at 182 ilvl as a HPriest main. I’ve completed all mythics last week/this week, ran the layer 3s last week and holy crap is it like night and day in terms of difficulty. Was feeling good tonight and thought I would try out the new 3 in a five man. Got to level 2 in Mortgrar (might be butchering the name), and the one shot mechanics coupled with the healing debuff makes it practically impossible even if we’re pulling safe and I’m shackling the undead every chance I get. For context, everyone else in group was sitting between 170-175 ilvl. And I end up getting yelled at cause I’m “not healing enough” even though I’m very familiar with the class with full CD’s up. One thing I notice spread across not only mythics but now torghast too, at least from a healer’s perspective, is a lack of balancing with debuffs and DoTs. I’m sure they will figure it out in the next couple weeks. They just gotta tune down mechanics with damage reductions and possible reductions/substitutions with some of these debuffs. I’m all for a challenging aspect in the game but when I NEED to run this every week for resources and it’s overtuned, it ruins the game a little for me.

Many of the bosses do have interesting mechanics in my experience, but all of those are overshadowed by the DPS rush caused by “Unnatural Power”.

One boss I fought today whose name I forgot had an ability called “Predator’s Gaze” which gave him a stacking haste and damage buff every time I moved. It also used an ability called “Collapse” that was a typical move-out-of-the-way-of-bad-swirls attack.

The trick was figuring out how to minimize my movement and the stacks of that buff, either by interrupting the casts of Collapse with stuns/fears/cc, using blinks or abilities to move around (thank god for door of shadows) or stacking defensive cooldowns to stay in place. I’m certain another build might’ve favored intense kiting instead.

But all of that ended becoming secondary to the real challenge, dealing enough dps to kill it.

Lol did you really just say that

Doing the lower levels multiple times to earn soul ash could be an alternative if it’s too hard for some people. Personally though I say maybe you should fail a few times. The game isn’t supposed to cater to you. You’re the adventurer. You’re supposed to overcome the challenges presented to you. That’s what it’s all about. Plus you’re getting a legendary out of it. Kind of hard to complain about that.

my stance.
for as focused as torghast is in the xpac…it should of been like mage tower fights. where not simpel tan kand spank but having to deal with mechanics that are lethal.

No nerfs. Buff them all to be equal instead.

You’re either trolling or haven’t done some of the genuinely overtuned bosses, or you shouldn’t be allowed to have opinions. Either way, moronic suggestion.

Did it ez today with a sub rogue/disc priest duo.

I havent died a single time in torgast collecting all my soul ash. Not once. I wouldn’t know what boss is hard or easy. Because it was all easy.

I have failed 7 times so far

I recommend meeting my friend The Tarrague

Classes with strong self-heal are so much better equipped for the bosses imo.

yea, the problem is really with anima powers. Some classes just get really garbage traits overall.

You’ve either gotten very lucky, or are talking out of your rear end.

I think most of the players complaining on the forums are being overly melodramatic, but some of the bosses are genuinely overtuned. To suggest that the rest should be made on par with the overtuned bosses is insanity. It is more than possible that you have been getting nothing but the easy bosses on easy levels.
