Top 5 dumbest zones

hmm, lots of hate for desolace…weird.

i was kind of forced to level up there back in the days, because my laptop couldn’t handle the more populated zones (especially if horde were present it would lock up my screen for a few seconds). I really enjoyed it - especially the centaur faction wars there. interesting quests, and it was relatively peaceful. Still part of my leveling path to this day (should I start playing an alt) :heavy_heart_exclamation:

My top 5 list is exclusively “Silithus” written down fifteen times.

How are you unable to navigate around the Ghostlands? It’s like a donut, big mountain in the middle, you do stuff all around it.

I guess I"ll just go with the zones I hate most

  1. Hellfire Peninsula
  2. Deepholme
  3. Silithus
  4. Korthia
  5. The Maw

1 and 2 might change with time but there is no zone worse than the Maw for me. For the first part of the expansion not only was it awful, but it actively punished you for engaging in it.

Any zone after MOP. It’s like they went out of their way to make ground travel as tedious as possible.

100% true. There was a period in which zone developers vey drastically changed their approach in order to make everything incredibly cluttered, cramped and deliberately frustrating to navigate on ground. This approach has continued to the present day.

My least favorite zones ever:

  1. Tied at first is every zone where flying isn’t allowed (Argus, Maw, etc)
  2. Vash’jir
  3. Nazjatar
  4. Howling Fjord (never even finished the quests there…)
  5. Wintersgrasp/Tol’barad - locking raids behind owning a pvp zone is among the worst ideas in Blizz’s history.

My worse 5 in no particular order. This is based off of navigation of the zone via ground travel before unlocking flight if applicable.

-Maw
-Revendreth
-Highmountain
-Blades Edge
-Nazjatar

I love the Ghostlands. I love creepy aesthetics though.

This is a hard one!

Hmmm

  1. the Maw. it is drab, I don’t like the music, no flying, too over filled with enemies.

  2. Argus. The whole thing felt unexciting to adventure in, much like the maw.

  3. the ghostlands. It’s very depressing, and only gets worse the farther you get into it. Even the murlocs are zombies. It was the zone I disliked the most when doing loremaster. All of the quests felt the same, it was slow, and not much was accomplished.

  4. Revendreth. This is my least time spent in any zone ever made. I flew over it and it looked impressive but this entire time, it is too vertical. Also it suffers from too much enemies like most of the new zones seem too.

  5. Valsharah. It has its moments of beauty but it also have those pockets of nightmare infested areas that are just an absolute pill to travel through, and it was clearly not well done trying to fly in it. Either running into invisible walls or a million branches, I don’t like it.

Mechagon Island. I dislike everything about it. From the giant trash heap look, to all the mechanical/techno creatures and junk mobs, to the annoying quests. I dislike gnomes in general so Mechagon as my least fav zone is probably not a surprise.

After that, there’s some zones that are just boring aesthetically: Wetlands and Arathi highlands. Borean Tundra. Azshara.

Then there’s zones that I dislike for reasons I can’t articulate: Argus. Zangarmarsh. Tanaan Jungle.

  1. Vashj’ir : all those stacked and recessed caves with quests and related material.
  2. Stonetallon Mountains : only good purpose was as a path between zones pre-flight
  3. Mulgor : I have gone there many times and have been unable to be successful at cow-tipping
  4. Dustwallow Marsh : Garrosh should have aimed a bit more to the south-west for full clear.
  5. Mecagon got old very fast.

Runner UP: Any zone Thrall was currently in during CATA.
