He’s a gladiator and this entire thread is stupid. Having more utility is almost always better. I’m so happy blizzard is going in this direction. Hopefully we get back to cata/mop levels of utility in the future
This is the same OP that felt the need to create a thread to announce his raiderio score on GD forums.
I’m assuming in BFA with DH being meta he finally had his chance to feel like he wasn’t terrible and it went to his head.
Now he sees with AoE cap and knows he will have to swap back to a class with depth in shadowlands if he wants to push keys and is complaining they are too hard after rotting his brain playing DH for 2 years.
I can deal with the added spells but Bliz needs to remove that cd every spell/attack has! It’s so freaking annoying! At least on my ret Pally so far anyways.
It feels so slow like I’m waiting on attacks that before I didn’t need to wait on.
Unpruning is good! They are just unpruning the wrong abilities, that’s all.
Agree.
Enhancement went so far as to “un-prune” ‘passive’ weapon imbues that we currently have into ‘active’ abilites in SL.
It’s silly
What about the curses we got? What about the new talents we got? What about any of the other unpruned abilities that aren’t worthless? You zeroed in on one worthless ability for one spec and claimed that it is an example of the unpruning effectiveness.
Just because you have an extra spell, doesn’t mean you are forced to use that spell. Just because you can’t think of a reason to use corruption doesn’t mean it’s a bad spell for Destruction. Just a quick example, how about older content, or farming in general, where you want to tag a lot of mobs very quickly? Destruction, before corruption, had a terrible issue with quickly tagging mobs.
RP wise, we are a Warlock sacrificing someone to summon a powerful demon… seems pretty great RP wise. “Other Wise”, it summons a powerful demon, which seems pretty good for just about any problem that you would need a demon to solve.
Then don’t use it. Problem solved.
I’m not sure it counts as button bloat or having “too many buttons to press” if the abilities aren’t worth pressing.
If the abilities are worth pressing then isn’t it worth the press? If they aren’t worth pressing then just don’t press them.
Like Ritual of Doom doesn’t need a keybind ever. Heck use it from your damn spellbook if you want. There is never a time when you are going to need a “clutch” Ritual of Doom summon lol.
Also I’m actually glad RoD is returning. It is flavour as far as I’m concerned and I was disappointed when it wasn’t in the initial unpruning announcement.
Ummm…how long have you been playing? You do realise that 90% of abilities have always had a GCD on them.
There was never a day when you could say Crusader Strike and Divine Storm at the same time.
I agree. Ive played too many MMO’s that slowly crept up and crept up and now you literally have 6 full bars of abilities to hit. Everquest is like that now because no one stopped and said: “Is it really necessary to NEED 6 full hotbars full of abilities?” This WW Monk already has, if I remember (its been a few months since I really played em) a 7 or 8 button rotation…Isn;t that enough? Why do I need a 12 button rotation?
I like the Prune and dislike the Unprune. But meh, 90% of the unpruned abilities are niche at best and I just won’t put em on my bars…so, Ill live and let live and those who want to have RoD on their bar because it makes them feel cooler can have that, and I can just not put it on my bar.
This made me lol, too.

Lot of the people testing it don’t like it
My issue with the pruning and subsequent unpruning is that Blizzard always seems to be targeting the wrong abilities.
Like why cut Fel Flame but not Unending Breath? Why bring back Corruption for Demo and Destro when they’ll never be interested in casting it?
I hated the pruning because they left us with so many useless abilities while cutting so many useful ones, and the unpruning feels like nothing more than PR. Cool we got Ritual of Doom back, but that doesn’t matter if it’s never worth casting.
I was just checking out Death and Decay as frost. It does such little damage, I actually lose DPS because of the GCD. Will be nice against rogues, though they’ll probably just wait it out… Otherwise seems like pointless button bloat.
So does this mean they’re up to 5 or 6 buttons now
Yeah and not just that, the hilarious ‘balance’ of it is a whole other level. Arms getting Spell Reflect and Shattering Throw baseline compared to Ret getting its existing passives, which aren’t impressive to begin with, nerfed and renamed ‘auras’ and made mutually exclusive unless you have multiple paladins. Like what? How is that fair or interesting gameplay?
It is notable for Ret but it’s hardly exclusive to that spec. A lot of losers and only a couple of winners. Wayyyyy way less impressive than it sounded. You’d think just bringing back some spells would be good and easy to do but it isn’t when you give some specs good abilities and literally nerf and rename existing ones for others.

ooooOOOOOOOoooo what does THIS button do?
They were trying to appease the “we need spells every level” crowd who complained about characters being 120. I don’t mind spells being in both sections of the spell book since some are for the class and others for the spec, however, splitting them up to appease this crowd wasn’t needed.
Click them.
Realistically it just needs to be off GCD or something, but then again that just means people would bind it to their main abilities so that it auto recasts on their new target ![]()
Maybe off GCD but with a cooldown is the way to go.
Personally I don’t mind it as an ability I always used to like having it. Duration typically means you can precast it before a pull so it’s not like it’s an additional opener GCD or anything.
I think that is still the big thing.
We don’t really need pruning for pruning sake, flavour abilities like Ritual of Doom, Eyes of the Beast, Sentry Totem (where Sentry Totem Blizz? Where Sentry Totem? I’m heckin annoyed) etc which don’t realistically affect how the class/spec plays but adds a flavour point are great.
Other abilities are things like Kill Shot for Hunters which benefit and contribute to how the class plays should be the other returns.
Things like Corruption for non-afflic specs etc are honestly just meaningless fluff. They don’t provide any flavour or joy, nor are they buttons that add anything to the rotational play of the class.
