Too many big names to make it into the small scope of SL?

The scope for how many souls we should have found by now was already massive. Cairne, Arthas, Varian, Deathwing, Onyxia, Grom, ect ect (I know Arthas was tossed in to the Maw, but give me something real with him. Right now we have Arthas Lite running around). These are only a very, VERY, minor few of the names that we are missing.

Are we about to wrap up Shadowlands and miss out on seeing the plethora of huge names that have no only impacted, but shaped the game we play? We have already gone down the road of the Infinity Stones, a mental image that can never be undone at this point, but on the flip side where are the souls of all those who have passed before and after the cycle was broken and all souls were going to the Maw?

We had the side piece conversation between Thrall and his Mother, but what could have been an amazing capstone of Anduin and Varian is looking less and less likely? The same father who has reached out in the afterlife once already to tell Anduin he needs to do “What a King must”.

Cairne died pre-maw nonsense, yet Baine hasnt seen him since? Man would be Thundering his way across the fields of death for his son.

Arthas? The literal face of undeath. The man who raised Sylvanas. Someone who has had more actual impact on this whole story than any other character in the universe at this time cant seem to make it in?

Where did all of these souls go? We are talking the fate of reality. “Wrapping up a story arc that has been going since Warcraft 3”. Where are the actual major figures that should be here to finish it and hand off the torch once and for all?

Short answer is that there are many more afterlives than we get to see as players in the Shadowlands and it’s likely the vast majority of ‘missing’ souls are scattered throughout those other afterlives.

Long answer is that the fandom and the writing staff had very different opinions on what was ‘cool’ about going to the shadowlands. Fans seemed to think the point was to see all of the dead main characters and the writers seemed to think those were just cool Easter eggs to include while they got to the main point of crafting their Macro-Cosmic hoopla about Eternal Ones, and First Ones, and the machinery behind the creation of the universe. So there’s no time to worry about one or two insignificant (but far more relevant to Warcraft) souls when there are these far more colossal forces (that we never heard of before) to explore.
