Something for the anti-multiboxers to take note of, CCP didn’t reclassify multiboxing as “automation” when they decided that it wouldn’t be allowed anymore. They simply made a new rule that said it wasn’t allowed.
So, even if Blizzard were to change their minds on multiboxing, they wouldn’t just go “oh, well I guess we were wrong for 15 years and it actually is automation”, they’d just make a new rule that says multiboxing isn’t allowed.
So all this whining about multiboxing being automation is completely pointless on top of being wrong.
Detect what? Multiboxing? Sure you can, you just look at the people with 15 toons following one toon all day. Then check if all the accounts are the same guy.
You would only have to look at a multiboxer for a minute to be able to tell they aren’t a group of people working together. All the toons attack at the exact same time.
15 years ago, Multiboxers were much more rare, and I didn’t consistently see mass-multiboxers of 20+ accounts at once until WOD.
Now people can multibox 40 accounts with a relatively inexpensive setup, and they can pay for their accounts with gold, because they can harvest 40 resource nodes at once.
It’s only going to get worse until Blizzard does something. Randomizing resource nodes for each character would be a good start.
All of these arguments over technicality are a pointless distraction when you realize the entire point of multiboxing is for one player to achieve economic and tactical advantage over single players that use one unique account.
There are far more non-mb players and eventually blizz will make the right choice and either force you multiboxers onto your own server or ban you outright for hurting the spirit of the game.
In addition blizz should realize that due to the way the wow token works they aren’t making any money off of multiboxers anyway.
You left out the part where the multiboxer paid for each account and monthly subscription for every character he utilizes. A pointless distraction much like these anti multiboxer threads.
Just like the five year long debate about pathfinding and how making countless threads will change their stance on it?
Multiboxing has been a thing since WoW’s inception. It’s been allowed since Blizzard made the conscious decision to allow more than one license per Battlenet account.
They aren’t going to change anything about it just because it’s gotten re-newed interest in people complaining about it. In three months from now after the Brutosaur mount is no longer available, the threads will die down again.
