To those asking for cross-faction gameplay

Honestly, battlegrounds are already a lot of horde versus horde PvP anyway.

They can keep the faction premise, that’s fine. Just take the first however many in the queue, regardless of faction, fill the battleground and assign each side a faction. It would move queue times to an overall average and probably be better for everyone.

Because it is a RPG, the player is immaterial, it’s all about the character.

I have a ton of friends that all play horde but I would much rather play alliance simply the cosmetics of the city etc. It would be nice not to be pigeonholed into a certain faction when it benefits both to defeat a big bad. Many games now have this and still maintain pvp content and even open world pvp. Aka rift did it very well.
Some games didn’t and it hurt them like wildstar. Where if you wanted to do end game you had to play one faction only. Maybe since warmode is a thing they could go to cross faction servers and normal ones for those who dont want the change similar to how pvp and pve servers were set up.

What is so bad about playing with Draenei?

Maybe in your fantasy land. Here in the real world, Blizzard needs to consider cross faction play as their game slowly dies out and people have a rapidly shrinking pool of players to choose from for group content. Letting us group up would effectively double that pool and breathe new life into raids and mythic groups.

But you can keep being icked out about having to play with someone who chose an undead at the login screen.

100% wouldn’t bother me i thin k rift did something like this not sure becasue the of polution is dying.

I have an orc rogue I’ve been playing with a friend for the past several months and we leave War Mode on. The only time we died was from a fellow Horde player who was working on the achievement to kill 10 of the same faction. I know that’s not a lot of time but it still amused me. My friend has been playing with War Mode much longer and he said he rarely encounters Alliance.

Responding to the OP. I’d really like a way to play cross faction. It fits with the lore because both sides are constantly working together. It’s also nice just to be able to play with friends who are rarely on the side you tend to play on. Some of those players I’ve had great experiences with and have known for a long time. We’ve done everything from just being silly and hanging around to raiding and arena. I’d like to be able to do that with them again.

I’m all for a major defeat. Think that would be great. Know what would happen in that situation? Even more tribalism

Well this thread certainly backfired on you, OP.

If I got people to think about the issue a little bit, that’s all I can really do. I’m okay with being in the minority. But even if it’s true that most people like the idea, that doesn’t mean Blizzard can’t come out with a crappy implementation that people hate. The more people think about how they would really react to such an update, the better.

Maybe, but I will always argue against people that don’t want things because they think that Blizzard will just screw it up. Don’t accept mediocrity for your money - expect the best from them whether you actually think you’ll get it or not.

If Blizzard ever decides to implement cross-faction gameplay, then the more concrete feedback they get about it, the better. As I’ve said, I would rather they just not implement it at all, but even I will admit that there could come a time when they are basically forced to. If that time comes, I’d rather they get more feedback on it rather than less, because this is not a decision that should be taken lightly.

I think I’d prefer to play with Humans and Draenei now actually. At least I wouldn’t be reminded how Blood Elves “ruined” the Horde from a conga line of Orcs.

Barring players from interacting and grouping with each other on the basis of faction (let alone encouraging players to hate each other on the same basis) is counter to what people say an mmo should be.

It’s ok, in about a year I’m betting horde will be mostly blood elves and their fox friends.

Orcs, trolls, and undead will be rare.

And yet wow has been this way since 04, and it’s the biggest mmo.

Gd loves to point out that the forums don’t represent the majority opinion. Bads want the faction war to end because they think that’ll decrease their lfr queues or provide more carries in keys. Only heroic/mythic alliance raiders would truly benefit and that
Could also be accomplished with server merges and alliance based incentives

That’s probably debatable now. FFXIV has exploded in popularity in recent years.

I already play both factions, so I’m used to all races. Keep the cities and PvP faction-based, and I would be completely fine with cross-faction play. PvP can be helped if we choose a “side” we want to play on when we queue up (I really just always want to PvP as Alliance).
