To the people complaining about 9.1

just in case Legion Invasion came in 7.2 and not 7.1, and I don’t think it’s a bad example unlike X.1 which was unsuccessful.

And by the way, what was there in 5.1?

I run Epic BGs all the time and gearing up an alt through the fastest gearing path a la honor system…I stand no chance against high ilvl players on the alt sitting at 170 ilvl, I just melt. I notice the horde has many geared players in those queues comp than the alliance because you get plenty of horde merc gearing up as well for honor due to low queue time compared to horde.

Yeah, that’s a fair way to look at it for yourself, and I agree that most folks would probably be happier if they just moved on. I think a lot of folks are just clinging to sunk-cost fallacy at this point. They’ve spent months/years of actual game-time playing since the beginning only to watch it morph into something they don’t recognize anymore.

It’s not about the content, the timing of it.
By the time 9.1 releases, IIRC, 6.3 was already out. 7.2 was around the corner, 8.2 was out. Or something like that.
9.1 just too waaaaaay too long to come. So, given how much longer it took them, like double the amount of time, you’d expect double the amount of content.

I thought, for the very least, you would have added,

  • new Battle ground.
  • New Mage Tower-like challenge. or just more druid forms and warlock pets.
  • Revamping of World Quests.

btw the new zone is tiny that i bet in the first 2 weeks you would be done with it unless they hardcore time gate it which seeing its size might most likely what gonna happen.

this is a quote from the flying article on WoWhead regarding the new zone.

" You will also not be able to fly in The Maw and Korthia, and this is intended. Luckily, Korthia is a fairly small zone (about the same size as Mechagon) and easily traversable on foot, without a lot of obstacles."

in 8.2 we got both Nazjatara and Mechagon while here we only get one.

Because that’s what the forum keyboard warriors with 15k posts do, they complain. About everything. I don’t even think most of them play the game.

oh no they dont play the game…uuuh WhY aRenT tHeY PlAyiNg tHe GaMe

Those patchs came out about 3 months post launch not 8. Use some common sense.

You are correct, BFA had more content during this same timeframe. Probably more fun as a result.

Here’s a relevant reddit post from the other day:

So not only does the patch seem light on new content, but the new zone itself is like 1/3 the size of the other Shadowlands zones

To compare the timelines though… Legion releases destroys SL.
Sl Launched in Nov so…

Dec, Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May, Jun. Lets assume Jun release.
That’s a 6-7 month wait. Maybe 7-8 if its August.

You would kind of have to weigh 9.1 and SL launch vs
7.1, 7.2, and Legion launch.

Disturbingly, real. A portion of them will say I’m passionate about this game and I want it to be the version of itself that’s akin to holding onto an ex who they invested into the relationship that lost its honey-money phase and if only, if only things are like they were before… Also, that’s not to say there are not valid arguments for the direction the game is going that’s concerning for the community but given the size of the company they should not expect to see an immediate change to the game design they like to play and spoil their own time; sometimes, you have to walk away.

OR a MUCH needed shake up of the top devs?

OP, this is GD.

These are people who legit got mad over a fundraising drive for Doctors Without Borders.

It’s quality.
Not quantity.

This is extremely poor quality.
That’s troubling considering where the game is overall.

I wouldn’t bet on it. TBC is looking like not the TBC I remember, just like classic.

7.1 added content people were excited for. 9.1 is building on content that people already hate. Here’s how 9.1 is playing out:

  • Feedback - We hate convenants and soulbinds
Response - We’re expanding the soulbind tree!

  • Feedback - Torghast is boring and grindy
Response - We’re adding even more floors to Torghast!

  • Feedback - The Convenant Campaign is OK, but it’s very short-lived and lackluster
    Response - Here, have another!

  • Feedback - Can we please fly already?
Response - Sure, but we’re moving all the relevant content into a no-flight zone!

It honestly feels insulting at this point.

This has quite literally always been the case, even in Legion. We unlocked flying at the end of ToS campaign, Argus came out and you couldn’t fly in relevant content.

They are completely reworking Torghast away from the unrewarding system it is now.

Bro, Idk if it’s rose tinted glasses or something, but the 7.1 Suramar campaign and 7.2 order hall campaigns were small time-gated stories too. Nothing has changed.

Ok let’s apply your own standard to that then.
Legion Invasions: new world quests with a brief scenario. New at the time but I can live without it. Plus we are getting those in 9.1

Mega dungeon… yeah good point.

Suramar campaign: systems with a quest campaign to go with it. Just like new covenant chapters.
And expanded artifacts… cmon man at least try for a compelling argument here.

There is a difference between ‘quantity of content’ and ‘is the content enjoyable for the type of player I am’

The people who are complaining about 9.1 feel that the content that is coming is not going to be enjoyable for the type of player they are. Things like RIO, New Torghast Floors without a redesign of Torghast as a concept, etc. are not necessary universal improvements.

Well that would be one result from losing a LOT of money.
