You can’t blame anyone for not talking. That toxic environment was done by players and throw in cancel culture so people can’t even defend themselves without retaliation. You guys want to know who to blame … go look in the mirror.
“It’s not fun”.
No grey area there.
Dungeons are created to be repeatable content for eSports and Mythic+ “grinding”.
I’m personally fine running them once, but when you feel REQUIRED to run them to get better gear. they quickly become tedious.
Couple into that the fact that the Mythic+ community is EXTREMELY toxic and you have a recipe for disgust.
and op is asking why.
I solo them a few expansions later. It just isn’t fun any more when the mechanics of the dungeons are either
- Normal: Speed run, don’t even think of helping someone with their dungeon related quest.
- Heroic: Also speed run, don’t even think of going slow enough to stay alive. Healer must be failing. If you are going to be an army of one, why even queue up? Just solo it superman.
- M+: There are plenty of other threads that explain the elitism and other psychological issues associated with M+. No thanks.
You may not agree with my answer but years of on-and-off trying the dungeons again has reaffirmed the above as no longer being opinion. There are probably guilds that play the dungeons correctly but I don’t waste my cortisol on the drama and baggage that come with them. So I quest, level up, create another toon, quest, level up, do random things.
So why play an MMO? In the off chance I want to play with a friend and don’t want to deal with port forwarding some garbage game that can’t afford dedicated servers. That and sunk cost non-fallacy.
Bring back the need for strategy, crowd control, patience and I would consider doing dungeons at-level again. And no, not Classic. Bring it back to current retail WoW.
I talk to everyone but i’m not a person to force an conservation .
Normal dungeons are mind numbingly boring, and they reward nothing.
“Socially awkward” it’s the opposite for me. There’s 0 social aspects.
I dislike that dungeon mostly because of the spear fight. And the whole leaping around from tower to tower. It reminds me of Violet Hold on a larger scale.
Yep.
Less type, more fight!
This really gets funny in an epic bg gone to crap. At 2 minutes, almost no rides and not even outer wall hit decent…offence ain’t bring down 3 walls in 2 minutes. Its social time!
Well should be.
But some go FIGHT!. So you look busy as yeah, you don’t want the afk report to take away the honor. its not much but it is honor. and well the deserter time out sucks too.
I num lock auto walk at this point. Looks like am going to take BT. But I am not. I am in my outlook at that point really. RP walk…my dot is moving. Just not very fast. But fast enough.
When I first started Shadowlands I decided this was the expac I was really going to try and go for it with just normal and heroic dungeons on my main BM. I had chose Bastion and didn’t even know a dungeon was required and had already queued up for Spires. It was so much fun when no one knew anything. Just a week later it was already changing.
I queued again for random heroic, had already done a couple more in Maldraxxus but this one turned out to be Spires again. Yay, I thought, I know this one. The tank took off pulling mobs he didn’t have to, the healer was suddenly struggling, I’m coming up at the tail-end every time, my heart is racing, I’m starting to get that sick feeling. I have damage meter and I’m still second, but keep falling behind and struggling to stay there cuz my hands are shaking as the the tank asks to boot a guy just cause he didn’t like this guy in one of those wendigo type bodies (I forget what they’re called.) This guy had been really nice and helpful. I voted no. He proceeds to mouth off. In less than one week this guy had the dungeon down like the back of his hand. Bully for him. There are those of us not glued to our chair for 16 hours a day.
By week three there was no keeping up with anyone even I did two to three dungeons a week. WEEK 3! By that time people were called names even in stupid normals. I slipped in that one in Maldraxxus with the pipes even though I had done it 3x perfectly. I was kicked. Now my anxiety is back for even trying.
So, yeah, so much for my experiment to do dungeons in SL.
Because the community is toxic and insulting. Imagine trying to have fun and being told what a dumbass you are because you don’t know exactly what to do. This is why there is such a shortage on tanks. People try to learn the game and the routes and other players just insult and belittle them. Yeah you can report people but nothing happens, so here is a good, honest answer.
Normal has little mechanics to worry about
Lol I tank and people are normally kind to me
Im interested to know, since you’re keen to judge and make assumptions about me, exactly why you would think I wouldn’t be a good dungeon mate?
I don’t. I only asked for someone to elaborate on a point they tried to make.
No one said they should be. I certainly didn’t.
Again…i understand someone saying something isn’t fun. What I dont get is the claim that
They’re the same as dungeons have always been and so far not one of you has given any example of how the design is different than it used to be.
This whole thing started with a discussion around people not even wanting to do one dungeon for a quest. Good job arguing a completely different point though…i guess
Then you are very fortunate and you probably know what you’re doing.
I also don’t take crap I’ll leave a run if someone is without good reason telling me how to play I know the route I can do these dungeons in my sleep.
Then you just answered your previous comment and that is the reason people are kind to you.
Over many years and many games, I’ve learned that players (and even some developers) who ask this question usually aren’t actually interested in an answer.
Because I can. I pay my sub and if that’s what I choose to do, I shall.
I even booted a crap healer from my +14 before they died to stupid crap not once but 3 times in 2 pulls. 6 deaths from one person due to stupidity I called the run booted healer and with buddies tried again at 13
“To people who refuse to do dungeons”.
So you’re not understanding why people wouldn’t want to do dungeons after being subjected to the things I mentioned? Really?
Why is it hard to understand that after those things for the last 3 (including SL) expansions, people might be just a LITTLE tired of the way dungeons are being created?
Even this:
is an extremely valid reason. Why even tank a dungeon if you have to shoulder the blame when things go bad, even if you had nothing to do with the failure, but couldn’t prevent the eventual wipe that ensues?
I suspect you aren’t really interested in the answer, you just want to berate people for not having the same playstyle as yourself.
I’m done here. Good luck with this one.
