To anyone quitting after todays events

Go do some research on how women are treated in Japan, and then come back and tell me it’s better.

Game companies suck, and I hope all the studios being shown to be full of crapheads will finally fix the industry.

Yeah exactly. This isn’t some overzealous gaming journalist just trying to get some bait clicks. This is a lawsuit by the California Department of Fair Labor after a 2 year investigation. They are not dumping that kind of resources into something with no merit, I’d be surprised if the allegations aren’t true, at least most of them.

Yes, harm all the innocent people that work there and also the hard working ones. That makes total sense.

On the other hand if you are stupid enough to take these steps and hurt those are part of the company and working hard doing the right thing (the vast majority of the thousands of employees), it will be good to get rid of low hanging fruit, so yes please do this.

Is this just going to be another Hong Kong thing where people forget about it anyways?

Not quitting, will see how things pan out in the courts.

Absolutely.

There are already people defending Blizz online.

Tho to be fair, it shouldn’t really be on the customers of a company to punish them when they do stuff like this. I mean it’s fine if you want to boycott and all that. But ultimately it should be law enforcement and the courts that levy punishment. These people didn’t just make a bad game, assuming the allegations are true, these people committed actual crimes, bad ones. They should be in jail.

because one person commiting a crime does not mean everybody working in a company are are also criminals but hey it require you to think outside of the box

because a white person is racist does not mean evey white person is racist by association

because a man do sexual harrassement does not mean every man is a sexual predator

because a police officer is racist does not mean every police officer is racist and that police needs to be defunded

because when you tweet about blm on your iphone while drinking a coffee in a starbucks does not mean you care about them

blaming an entire company for the crime of one person is an insult to every single employee who does not endorce the conduct of the criminal

I keep seeing people post about other things and comparing this and that.

For me it’s a reminder of how bad some people can be. I can’t change the world but I can unsub from this game.

Did you even read it? This is a behavior that has been going on for years inside the company and it stems from the top down.

This is certainly a horrible situation and I feel badly for the women who endured harassment, and especially for the woman who was pushed to the point of taking her own life.

I think things will settle down and grow quiet for a while, kind of like the eye of a hurricane is quiet. But in a few weeks or months, it will be front page again. I’m sure that the victims and families will bring civil litigation, possibly even a wrongful death suit. This is far from over and will probably drag on a few years.

Having said all of that, I want to be careful about rushing to judgement, regardless of how bad it looks. After all, we are innocent until proven guilty. For now, I am taking a wait-and-see attitude and don’t have immediate plans to hang up my bow.

Perhaps this will be a catalyst for other gaming companies to take a closer look at their environment and culture, and do some house cleaning.

After 25 years of invested so much into Blizzard and Blizzard products, it was difficult to finally let them go. I stopped caring earlier this year and sub just has a few days left on it. I bought D2:R BUT Vicarious Visions is handling that and they know how to product quality products so I will end up playing that and considering it was most of my teenage years. Diablo 4 might be the real deal breaker for many people.

I was thinking more along the lines of depraved. Imagine taking serious allegations of an extremely toxic workplace and using it to try to win rhetorical points in an argument about the quality of the video game you like.

A lot of people here saying that this is another Clark-white-knighting-for-Blizz post, but I don’t really see it that way.

Speaking with your wallet is the only effective way to get your point across at this point. There’s a lot I disagree with when it comes to OP, but I do think this is a “don’t just talk the talk” situation.

This option provided is something to keep in mind as all of this plays out in court.

Personally, I am hoping for justice and a positive outcome, and hoping for serious reform from Blizz. If not, I have bookmarked the link Clark provided.
