To all the healers that refuse to dps:

Good ones do. The other players I won’t play with again without being paid by them.

And do you know what the difference is between Healers and DPS who don’t do that?

People don’t say that that’s an acceptable way to play DPS. Everyone will actively crap on DPS who don’t use their toolkit to the fullest degree they can, but give Tanks and Healers a pass for doing the same.

Tanks and healers are not special. I am a healer main. I am 1/5th of a successful or unsuccessful group. That is all.

Sometimes a person can make an awesome play and contribute some extra but the icon they have on their nameplate irrelevant to that.

How is this remotely an argument against what was said.

The idea that you get a gold star and some loot just because you did your job isn’t one that’s grounded in reality.

Either the boss dies and you get loot, or it doesn’t and you go home empty handed.

It doesn’t matter if I’m playing 10x better than everyone in the group if we can’t cross that finish line. It doesn’t matter what role I’m playing.

I’m a dps main and could never really switch from that, but I did play resto druid quite a bit in season… 2? the azshara one, I forgot.

Did some +10 keys as a healer there, I feel like resto druids have even less of an excuse not to DPS when most of their heals are point and click HoTs and they even have spells that take no mana.

It’s just a button that makes things go better for the entire group, why is this such a hard thing for some people to grasp. LOL

That being said I’ve seen plenty of resto druids in keys that do nothing, one of the examples I was talking about earlier was actually a resto druid that just kept HoTs up and stayed AFK in the back most of the time. Boggles the mind.

Whats the problem? I’ve earned my right to afk. Just like once you’ve done 1/3rd of all the boss/enemy damage in the dungeon, you can afk. Why don’t you people get this? Unfortunately tanks can’t do this, which is why the least amount of people play tank.

Yea when I heal if I get to the same amount of healing done as the last time I did that dungeon I stop healing. That’s my quota :joy:

Job done! Then afk.

If you’re referring to the post in general, i think the tone of the OP moreso than anything else has added a somewhat biting and confrontational edge to the conversation.

You mean my thread I general? All I have done is swap healer for dps. If that’s now considered confrontational when the role is swapped then Idk what to say.

If any toxic DPS in my groups want to berate my healing or tanking by being a back seat tank or healer, they will automatically go onto my ignore list. Stick to you role, and I will stick to mine.

If you are in a group with a really good tank and 3 very solid DPS that aren’t taking avoidable damage and are interrupting important casts, what are you doing? You just afking and enjoying the carry? Don’t you figure you owe them a little gold at the end, in this case?

That is the biggest IF I have ever seen in a pug environment lol. IF that was how the majority of Mythic Plus pugs really went down, then of course tossing some DPS along with my heals would be ideal. However the majority of pugs don’t act like that. The problem of posts like this, and replies likes yours, is you are all assuming that Mythic Plus pugs play like dedicated teams.

Very true. I hugely agree with that assessment. “In a PuG environment” is the clincher for me. I have been pugging lately, but I’d much rather play with my friends. And my friends coordinate over voice, and try to avoid damage…so what should I do? Should I just afk? Or should I contribute some damage, despite being burdened with the healer tag?

I think that’s the disconnect here. People aren’t saying you haveto DPS or you’re trash. People are saying that if there is some downtime and you have space to DPS, you should throw some damaging spells, that’s all there is to it.

The disconnect is that people are comparing healers with dedicated teams to healers that pug.

Same type of healers that use Ironbark once every 30 minutes. They forget it even exists or are “saving it”

What if you’re doing your role poorly.

That says more about the company you keep than anything else.

Now you’re just making excuses.

The opinions of DPS about the healer in their group doesn’t matter.

That’s…objectively untrue.
