To Address The White Elephant In The Zone

He’s seen in Tazavesh.

Self-fired, maybe? All I know is he scarpered and Gazlowe took over, as he should.

They should turn his (former) palace into a year-round Darkmoon lite, with casino games and so forth.

Fair enough.

You mean another zone of some kind? Goblins are represented all over the game, with a recent prime example being the Motherlode dungeon from BFA.

He’s making deals with the Brokers. Maybe it’s yet another plot development that will get forgotten after an expansion.

Oh yeah, I forgot someone spotted him in Taza’vesh.

They’ll probably dig it up in a couple expansions for a side quest or something.

I mean more substance to their content. The Pleasure Palace is a joke. I wish they’d stop giving goblins that sort of treatment. Some light hearted humor is one thing, but don’t you think the Pleasure Palace is a little over board in that regard?

Consider the history and lore surrounding the Azshara zone. So much possibility. Yet rather than exploit it, they plopped that area right in the middle, and then summarily forgot about it.

I wish I wasn’t as cynical as I am today and could hope for some narrative development in that regard. But Blizzard has beaten the enthusiasm out of me in that respect.

No. The goblin starter zone is you paying Gallywix every thing you own for a spot on his boat or you die to a volcano. He cares more about his stuff than his people.

Him having a palace makes perfect sense.

At least Azshara survived BfA, maybe she’ll show up and kick the goblins out of her zone.

Why would she want to? They made it look like the Horde symbol.

Yes.

But what we got instead is that abomination of an area that is now empty and irrelevant.

How I would love to see that. I actually wrote a mock up patch that included that happening as part of my resume submission for Narrative Content Designer.

The Azshara zone is ripe for content just waiting for proper development.

There are two quests that send you there so it’s not irrelevant.

Because it’s named after her, and she’s an egomaniac.

You know she’d terraform that sucker right back.

2 whole quests! That’s content!

edit - I’m sorry, that sounded like I was being rude to you and I wasn’t meaning to be.

To be fair, that’s more attention than most of the old world continents have gotten in like five expansions.

It’s fine. I’m not offended or whatever. Just having a discussion.

That’s describes the majority of the areas in WoW. For example the volcano in Un’goro. You do a few quests there then never go back.

I’d like to see the most powerful sorceress Azeroth has ever seen come out in her own right as a villain instead of being used over and over as a pawn of some greater evil. She’s a fantastic character.

Exactly, hence my statement that the Palace is a microcosm for a bigger issue. There was no need to create that place to generate interesting content in the zone. It obviously failed at that purpose. Instead focus resources on meaningful content to make areas more relevant and meaningful, as well as lore friendly. Ungoro was another huge waste.

You’re not wrong.

Those two quests in the Palace could have been placed anywhere else and it would have worked without creating the eyesore that is the Palace. Or the palace could have been created with a design and purpose that wouldn’t become an afterthought once the novelty of it wore off.

Yes, he is literally the goblin leader because he OWNS the rest of them.

The alliance war campaign quests send you there in BFA.

As I said, I don’t care for goblins personally. But they are part of the lore and game. I’d like to see them given a little more serious treatment and at some point delve deeper into their lore as content. We’ve only been given the absolute minimum necessary to drive the overall story, same as Tauren.

And I’m not a big fan of Tauren either but they have been ignored too much too. Their lore is closely tied to the Night Elves but we haven’t really experienced much of it comparatively speaking.

October 2005 me calling here.

Please don’t hold your breath, OP.

I wish they would too…

Trust me, I seriously wish they would change from Rule of Cool for story and Epic Do-Over for the lore.
