Wait, me or them? Idk if I heart this or not
Sec flipping a coin to decide.
Completely made up in your head based off your opinion and nothing else
The opinion your headcanon is based off of.
Having an opinion and thinking that it is more valuable than anyone else’s is unfortunately all too common here actually.
Well, when the reasons given are inherently bad, I think it’s okay to assume that my opinion is better, especially when the counterarguments boil down to “These aren’t against the rules so it’s okay regardless of what you think.”
It’s not against the rules to steal a seat from an elderly person on a bus either, but good luck trying to explain to anyone why what you did had any merit whatsoever.

Well, when the reasons given are inherently bad
That’s what they are questioning.

Completely made up in your head based off your opinion
You two are just talking circles around eachother at this point.
Nobody would have arrested me for not holding the door at the convenience store for the elderly couple today.
I would have simply thought less of myself. It’s this self-awareness (perhaps moral compass, empathy at all?) that many lack.

You two are just talking circles around eachother at this point.
I’m not really confused about what’s happening, just reiterating that this poster asserts their own opinion on things as objective truth, and that everyone who disagrees with them is a bad person.
Which is funny because earlier in the thread they genuinely made this post with a straight face:

Disagree with me? Troll.
Agree with me? Not troll. Very intellectual and smart. Based, even.

It’s this self-awareness (perhaps moral compass, empathy at all?) that many lack
It’s not any of those things. You hold the door open because you were taught that it was the polite thing to do and you want to be a good person so you do the things a good person does in your eyes.
There are countries where that’s not a common thing to do and it’s not viewed as rude when you don’t.
That’s your culture defining your morality. Other people not having that value isn’t an indictment on their morality unless you hold your culture as superior to others.

Other people not having that value isn’t an indictment on their morality unless you hold your culture as superior to others.
Well there isn’t a culture that doesn’t. If there was it wouldn’t exist anymore.
That’s an entirely different convo though.

I’m not really confused about what’s happening, just reiterating that this poster asserts their own opinion on things as objective truth, and that everyone who disagrees with them is a bad person.
Correction: I don’t think it’s the objective truth. If someone offered a counterargument that felt coherent enough to make me question my own opinion, I’d gladly concede my points.
Problem is: Nobody here has done that yet. It’s mostly debate lord nonsense and a whole lot of “I don’t care what you think, you don’t get to decide what is and isn’t a valid reason for kicking someone.”
Which more or less feels like a deflection than an actual argument.

There are countries where that’s not a common thing to do and it’s not viewed as rude when you don’t.
And you know what? There are valid reasons for why accompanying that, too.
Case in point: People don’t really hold doors open for people in Japan because the country is more individualistic and respects personal space. Completely valid reason.
What’s the valid reason for kicking someone who isn’t performing up to task in content that’s largely trivial and has no real consequences for not completing efficiently?
That’s an individuals judgement. It’s your choice how you judge others based on your morality and after you understand the source of that sense of morality, you may judge the morality of others differently.
I don’t think I actually said anything about judging others though.

It’s this self-awareness (perhaps moral compass, empathy at all?) that many lack
Is that not a judgement of others? In what you suppose they lack?

If someone offered a counterargument that felt coherent enough to make me question my own opinion, I’d gladly concede my points.
No you wouldn’t, because you’re still struggling to grasp Blizzard’s explanation of the purpose of the VtK system, inserting your own headcanon instead.
I can legally stand in front of your house on a public side walk and take pictures of you. It’s my 1st amendment right.
That doesn’t mean I should do that. People clearly do things not because they should but because they’re vindictive, instigators, and skate around legality as their excuse for doing it.
It really shows what kind of a person they are.
I was in a group the other day where a tank voted to kick a mage and accused him of being a bot. I didn’t vote, but the kick went through. As the mage and I were on the same realm they whispered me asking why and I explained that somebody voted kick for being a bot.
I said in party afterwards that the mage wasn’t a bot and the tank replied…“Any dps that does less damage than me, I vote to kick them as a bot. If I could, I’d kick all of you.”
Disgraceful.
“It was just a prank, bro” Tiktok in GD thread form.

because you’re still struggling to grasp Blizzard’s explanation of the purpose of the VtK system
I mean, I understand the purpose just fine. Nobody’s just been able to explain to me why that purpose is justified, especially when it can be abused in the capacity that people have outlined.
“That’s what Blizzard says” isn’t the argument you think it is. They’ve been wrong in the past and they can be wrong now. Anyone who resorts to this line of thinking has clearly no leg to stand on and thinks we shouldn’t question the design choices at play here.

most people run group finder on autopilot and don’t really pay attention to much of anything, so I imagine most people will vote yes
Because people are too stupid to hit “no?”
When I don’t know why a box is popping up on my screen asking me for information or to do something I don’t know about, I don’t mindlessly hit “yes.” This may be why I don’t have stolen accounts or bogus charges on credit cards.
If y’all are incapable of hitting no, then like we’ve said time and time again, put a 5 second timer on the yes button.
