That means nothing from a coding perspective. Also Itemid is a user-facing identifier, just because two items have the same “itemid” doesn’t mean you can’t have two similar but different instances of that item (For instance titan-forged items have a separate bonus id)
When you instantiate a new object from an existing class, you’re generating the values then. If you change some parameter or variable within the class and instantiate a new object, that new object could have different parameters even though it was created from the same class. So not only is it possible, its trivially easy to do.
Getting ore is actually a lot easier thanks to the bots! They drive down the cost of ore so that it’s honestly faster to farm gold and then just buy the ore/bars. If the price is right, you can get way more ore farming gold than going out mining.
This is the case for bags Im pretty sure. I’ve seen people claim they got epic gems but none of my guildies did either. And Ive never seen any footage or screenshots of it either. Not on reddit at least.
So if anyone has anything, like a stream snapshot, share it with me please. I’m curious.
This oculd be true…I suppose, but I think prospecting generates new “bag” id.
The other question I’d add is whether a currently non-prospectable item even has an existing table prior to the patch that makes it prospectable. People saying “current ore” has some loot table sans epics assumes a hidden table exists mirroring say, a saronite table. It’s not impossible, but it seems less likely to me they would have created extraneous partial coding.
The fishing bags clearly had a loot table and then an expanded loot table post-patch so the question is at least reasonable of which table applies. Here it seems more of a stretch.
Simple solution to IF the ore is marked to where old ore wont drop the new loot.
Take 2 of old ore, 3 of new ore. You now have a majority of new ore and you prospect it. It should then give the new ore drop table as the majority is new ore.
Of course this is assuming they are even keeping track of old and new ore.
It is not the same as containers, that roll their contents on generation, that will not get updated tables (because the contents were selected before the table updated).
Prospecting rolls on the table when you prospect. It will benefit from an updated table.
There’s basically zero chance blizzard is going to change how the game has always worked just to stop some resource hoarding for a phase change (like what happens with every other consumables anyway), all to keep people from gaining like… 40 main stat across 10 gem slots.
And, you’ll be able to see that it works on the PTR once it goes up, so there’s no real risk in hoarding now even if you believe these rumors.
As for titanium, since everybody is going to stack it, prices will be absurdly low for sure at the beginning. I learned my lesson, titansteel never went up at the start of Ulduar, it went down to half price.
Between the stockpiled ore and stockpiled transmute mats I’m expecting day one to be decently profitable but not rags to riches money.
I’m just stockpiling (with guild assistance) so that we have a good count on hand for as raiders need them.

Most likely there’s just a “drops epic gems” flag they flip as, to the game, ore is ore.
Edit to add: Don’t forget the dust can be exchanged to tokens! Decent money can be made there as well due to people wanting patterns without enough stockpiled daily coins to turn in!
