Other people here claim to speak for the “majority”.
It is also fair to say someone will like it.
Blizzard already stated they liked it.

I have yet to see them justify extreme Titanforging. In Legion, it made sense because of their philosophy for “big random drops.” It was supported through legendary items.
BFA does not claim that design philosophy in the slightest.
Titanforging is fine and they like the system in general. Extreme Titanforging is not something they’ve spoken on – aside from actually saying they’re going to reduce the chance of seeing it – meaning they weren’t okay with it in some sense.
I have yet to see Blizzard justify a lot of decisions they make, but then again they don’t have to.
I don’t think that Blizzard qualifies the wording as “Extreme” Titanforging…
They’ve justified Warforging/Titanforging multiple times, but Legion was the first time they made it unlimited. As I’ve already noted – BFA rolled Extreme Titanforging back. I’d prefer they remove the chance, regardless how rare it is right now. It’s as simple as that.
I do a lot of feedback that involves direct interaction with developers. I want to know what they’re thinking when they come up with ideas as such. It helps me understand their goal and improves the quality of feedback – especially when we try to exploit and break their system.
Extreme Titanforging was not justified in BFA. And feedback is feedback.
There’s a difference between +15 and +30 and +60 yet. It’s clear what I’m referring too. I want a +15 cap, so +20 would be considered extreme.
Yeah, I realize you consider it extreme, but that doesn’t mean Blizzard does.
I never made a broad statement about what other people want as you did. So, what do I need to prove?
That doesn’t matter, I’ve set a definition so they know exactly where I’ve drawn the line – no room for interpretation.
Are we going to have a discussion? Or are you going to continue to speak on Blizzard’s behalf? I can already ask them directly (I mean, I have. Different devs have different opinions). I don’t want what you think Blizzard would do, I want your opinion.
I don’t consider it extreme and I’ve drawn the line there as well.
I don’t know if we are having a discussion or not. You just tell me what you think and I tell you what I think. I don’t speak for anyone else or Blizzard and never have stated I have. I have only repeated what they stated in the past. You already have my opinion.
Everyone else on this thread can give their opinion, but to claim things like the “majority” or “consensus” is beyond ridiculous.
This. Right. Here holy hellhound.
What bonus would you consider extreme? Where is that line drawn? +30 or so?
Why is that where you start with guessing what he considers is extreme? Considering he’s not levying to have the forge cap reduced, any assumption less than that isn’t his opinion, it’s projection of yours.
Except he’s not just now presenting his opinion on the topic. He’s been here advocating his point of view for quite some time. If you’re not sure of what his positions are it’s because you haven’t bothered take the time to read his posts, of which there are many in this thread.
But I’ll go get the popcorn ready for when he answers your question. It should be entertaining to see how much actual discussion takes place.
Sorry, for the delay in the response as RL stuff came up.
I don’t consider any Titanforge extreme even if it goes to the cap of 425. I would only call it extreme if it was game breaking.
My view is based on the guilds I raid and play with. I consider both of my guilds to be a “casual” raiding guild even though we complete AoTC for every raid tier and maybe down a boss or two of Mythic. We raid two nights a week for two hours each raid. Currently we are 5/9 Heroic and killed the latest boss (Conclave) with a raid average item level of 393 average heart level 37. We have no requirements on raiding you only have to show up (yes, we have too many grey parses for some of the members). Some members do Mythic+ and some don’t. I did a quick scan of gear and found the highest Titanforge item in the guild to be 420 Titanforged item from Mythic+ 10, and there are as you would expect more Titanforged items. Season 2 (which raised the Titanforging cap to 425) started on January 22 and as you can see the item level of our “casual” raiding team is not out of whack for our progression due to Titanforging.
If Titanforging was really the problem it was called out to be I would expect our gear average item level to be way higher at this point in the raid tier. You also have to take into account that most of these members have killed the 400 ilvl world boss and have done the 400 ilvl warfront every time they have been up.
I know my view on this is based on my game experience and my experience with my “casual” raiding guilds and I know not everyone’s experience is the same and not everyone has the same expectations in game. That said I have yet to be convinced that Titanforging as it is now is game breaking in anyway whatsoever.
This is a fair POV.
The way I view this is similar. Titanforging isn’t an issue due to the statistics behind the bonuses (too rare to make a huge impact, but an impact nonetheless). I take issue with the shear amount of Heroic-quality items offered by trivial content (that is a bigger issue to me).
With that said, capping Titanforging to +15 appears it would have no impact on your guild. Given the amount of welfare loot is cut down, I’d have no issues actually increasing the Titanforge droprate. When I see a 400 ilvl cache from Warfronts, when it “should be” 385 at the very most, having it at 400 feels like it’s a guaranteed +15 already, and it has a decent chance to go even higher. No doubt, that’s easily bumped the average item level of your toons and roster by quite a lot (maybe as much a 7 item levels).
I appreciate the insight though. We’ve had quite a few 425’s pop up in our Heroic raids, and I’ve personally seen a couple 340’s bump up to 385+ during Uldir.
Well, I can’t possibly calculate or estimate your guess of 7 item levels at this point, but I know there are several threads on “welfare” (even though I don’t think it’s an appropriate term) gear. I do agree this may cause more anger to be directed toward Titanforging in general for some people.
393 – I can figure half your gear is 400 and 385.
If you just had those 400 drops reduced to 385…I can safely assume at least 3 item levels come from Titanforging (390). Move all your 400’s to 385 and that’s another 5 item levels (390 -> 385).
Just an estimate, of course.
For the sake of clarification – “Welfare loot” is loot that was acquired by very little or no effort. Warfronts, for example, it’s trivial content. It’s designed to be beaten with almost no chance to fail. Same with LFR. The difference is that LFR doesn’t offer guaranteed 400 caches every few weeks. Hence, Warfront caches are over-rewarding for the difficulty and ease of access – thus, its 400 ilvl cache is a welfare epic.
I think your estimate would be more accurate for the members that don’t do any mythic+. I did check my character and I currently have one piece of warfront gear (400) and a world quest Titanforge item (390). My item level is 396, but because I do mythic+ more of my pieces are either raid or mythic+.
Edit: Every piece of gear from mythic+ says warforged, but I think some of them are base level from what you get in the weekly chest. The naming of that stuff is confusing.
Well I like it.
The lottery is a lot different system, firstly you have to opt into it which instantly makes it more appropriate.
The equivalent in game would be if every time you got a piece it would be the base value, but they you had an option to “roll for a titanforge”
It would consume the loot you just received and then you would have a low chance of having a slightly worse reward, a lower chance of it being equal, an even lower chance of it becoming slightly better, and an astronomically low chance that it becomes 25+ ilvls higher.
Why?
Come on with the terrible responses. People have said multiple times why they believe capping would be beneficial. Let’s not play the why? game like we are 3 yr old children.
I don’t see the big deal of a tiny, tiny improvement on a upgraded piece.
It hardly does anything and just gets replaced next patch anyways.
The focus on gear in this game is overrated.
