Tips for an aspiring warrior? New to classic

I don’t know how anyone could be a warrior without the rage management talents.

You’d be rage starved all the time.

Just gotta shout really loud at enemies.

Anger management and stance dancing really make leveling smoother IMO, I’ll probably go with that, even though thematically dual wielding is wicked cool.

Why would you need to stance dance in a solo scenario? Pretty much all your leveling will be in Battle Stance. It’s more useful for PvP and for tanking, as you can Charge -> Defensive. AM is still good though. Dual wielding isn’t a good idea while leveling though. 2H Fury is the one people talk about.

Still a bad mofo dualwielding.

I like being able to change stance while leveling - accidently pull extra mobs? switch stance and still have rage for abilities. I find it smooth to have, you get more options in tight spots.

level as fury till 45+ish. As much as people say go with a 2h, I have main a warrior from 06’ to present and I can tell you 1 thing… warriors are gear depend - specifically weapon(s).

if you plan to leveling a alone, keep first aid up to date while questing. Majority of the gear for Fury warrior will be a mix of Leather and Armor. Even BIS is Leather in some slots for pre raiding gear.

as far as pulling mobs while questing. 2 mobs max maybe 3 but no more than that or you will have a lot of downfall.

warrior wont disappoint you once you reach high level but can be a little difficult on the path there.

I leveled my Forsaken Warrior in Arms, and switched to Protection at 60.

I put my first 5 Talent points in Cruelty, in the Fury tree, and left em there, even after I switched to Protection, for the 5% boost to Crits. Mobs and bosses are aggro’d by DPS as well as by heals, and since Warriors can’t throw heals, even with the lessened DPS in Defensive Stance, an extra chance for a Crit helps.

Warriors are slow and costly to level: you need to invest in good chest and leg armor, but you need to keep your weapons and shield up. Look for quests that offer shields as rewards, and run dungeons where bosses and mobs potentially drop shields. Once you get your Whirlwind Axe you’re set with a good, slow, high damage, twohander for your mid- levels, but remember that in Classic you have to train up all your weapons skills—including Unarmed. And put chains on your best weapons as soon as you can to prevent being disarmed.

And make friends with a good enchanter and always keep your enchants up: I took as many Defense enchants as I could, because I wanted that little extra edge, even in Battle Stance.

Warriors start with Heroic Strike and Battle Shout. Battle Shout gives you and your party members +15 to Attack Power for 2 minutes. Battle Shout to open every fight, even while soloing, and as soon as you have 15 rage, hit with a Heroic Strike to gather Threat, and increase your melee damage. I played Forsaken, and ran to Thunder Bluff as soon as I could to train in Guns do that I could level that weapon skill as soon as possible, for pulls.

As far as pulls, Warriors can pull with a range weapon—Thrown weapons are great for more stealthy pulls—but learn how to body pull as well. To body pull, creep up on the mob slowly and then walk back towards your group as soon as you aggro your target. This works great when you have to clear guards who are either on, or who walk, the periphery of the main mob or boss you need to kill.

You will have Charge and Rend at level 4, and learn to use em. Rend cost only -10 rage, and, while the Bleed Damage is small, so are your targets at level 4, so “Let it Bleed”, to quote The Stones, and open your attack with a Rend, and Hamstring any mob that will pull away—especially range DPS or that enemy Mage who will always try to Blink away. And get those Rends on a Rogue. A Bleeding Rogue cannot stealth.

A good thing to do against Rogues while guarding a point, say in AV, is to just keep your toon turning around and around in one spot, and Thunderclapping every chance you get. You can catch a Rogue and reveal em with even the smallest amount of damage.

I can go on and on, and usually do. Maybe I will just open a Warrior Academy in Classic…

Learn how to range pull

Chase after weapon upgrades that are reasonably easy to get your hands on

Don’t get discouraged before level 20, the class starts out pretty terrible comparable to the rest, but it picks up later on, and gets better by 40

What apocalypse said, range pull is a joke now days.

Crossbow pulling the patrolling gargoyles in strat dead was a art form lemme tell ya.

Reading through all the replies and i gotta thank you again. Didn’t expect this thread to attract so much attention. Really helpful and i appreciate it a lot. I’ll try and focus on enjoying the game aswell, haha.

Learn to stance dance, never stop going big D

Chasing weapon upgrades is most important - don’t be afraid to use a staff either - check its dps and use it if its got a higher DPS - do the math if it is missing strength

I cannot recommend it enough that you simply grab as much strength as you can on your gear and just learn to play while playing. when you feel like you understand your class well and you arent dying while questing, then feel free to look up yt guids and such. But those are all worthless until you actually understand your class and how the game works through experience. Play, have fun, pursue knoweldge about your class. You are gonna be fine without spirit gear or using the hamstring method. the ENTIRE game is open to you without those techniques.
