Tinker Class - With all of these machines everywhere, now IS the time! (MEGATHREAD)

Speaker Brinthe looks to be a prominent NPC while sporting an iconic silhouette of a Tinker…

Blizzard, please stop gear balling us and let us in on the secret! Are we getting a playable tech class or not?!? Or is this some sort of payback for all the tinker speculation throughout the years??

if and when it happens i hope it makes me feel the same when i played the R&C series for the first time

I thought the exact same thing! Feels like the tease of the century. First Iron Horde, the Mechagnomes, and now Machinespeakers. At this point Blizz have done everything besides just make the actual class

you lot keep saying this every expansion and what happens? a whole lot of nothing.

It wouldn’t surprise me if blizz was trolling the tinker wannabes. Just one more teaser to toss on the pile of lost hopes and dreams.

If true, cruel.

It’s a valid interest/hope.

TWW is likely, if not certainly, going to include more Warcraft tech aesthetic/theme.

Rather not hope forever though ha! If never, lets us in on it at least!

Still, one of the most fitting options left, canonically/narratively.

I totally also expect Blizzard to come out with other epic ideas, but let’s finish WoWs core themes first :3.

About half the Draenei heritage quest was dedicated to Artificers. Including introducing a new Artificer character, a temporary Artificer title, and the promise of a new Artificer built city for the Draenei.

Technology does very much seem to be on Blizzard’s mind with characters and content they’ve been making. I hope it’s not just more teasing and they actually make them playable.

Signed for Artificer/Machinist class.

Tank / Heals / DPS
Armor: Mail

Tank - Mechanized suit with alchemy and magic to hold the line against enemies.

Heals - The chemist; with the introduction of splash potions the chemist shines with providing potions infused with magic rapidly to allies. Potion rockets, sprays, mechanized tinker bots that will follow an ally and heal.

DPS - Technological terror; turrets, attack drones, attack bots, rockets, sprays, default weapon a ranged weapon.

pretty much! And then when we least expect, it’s something. Just like Demon Hunter!

Glad someone bumped this because I actually just finished questing through the Ringing Deeps finally and was itching to revisit this topic- from the Earthen mechs, to the Doc “Ock” claws on High Speaker Brinthe, to the Machinespeakers throwing gears. Oh my god Blizzard just rip the band-aid off already.

I appreciate the people who say a class like this should just be for Goblin and Gnome, but I think it’s very clear at this point that plenty of races are more than capable of being such a class.

Back in the day I used to play a LOT of Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. The Dwarf Engineer Class was my favourite! Loved how they mixed ranged dps (Gun) with melee dps (Wrench) and “supported” their turret, which was the bulk of damage. Reminded me very much of Torbjorn from Overwatch. As long as WoW’s Machine-oriented class (whatever it may be called) revolves around that kind of gameplay, sign me up! Honestly it’s all I’ve ever wanted from WoW, as I’ve played the Engineer/Tinker-archetype in WAR, Guild Wars 2, even Maple Story. Crazy how this game presents that class fantasy in all facets besides the player class themselves.

I recall Demon Hunter & Death Knight being portrayed in a similar manner too before Blizzard finally delivered what fans had been asking for

Considering we now know what mechs look like for Goblins, Gnomes, Dark Irons, Dwarves, Earthen, Blood Elves, Mechagnomes, and Draenei already, this really doesn’t seem like a huge stretch of the imagination like it once did too. Racial Mech-suits would come as naturally as racial forms for Druids do.

…I can already see it now… their class colour could be a Dark Gray, Silver, Bronze/Copper, or even Gold.

Obligatory Blizz PLS!!!

Old Gods this is exactly what I was thinking too. lol

We shouldn’t forget that Nightborne also have mech-based Artificers as well.

I believe the only real problem we’d have to making a cohesive class out of all of these elements. One idea is to give everyone Robotic backpacks Ala the Tinker from WC3 and have that backpack transform into a mech suit. Not the massive ones like what Gazlowe and Mekkatorque pilot, but smaller ones that are more akin to Iron Man, but form around the upper body while leaving the legs somewhat exposed.

The other obstacle would be what type of abilities or technology would this class utilize. Nightborne and Draenei use holy and arcane magic based tech, while Goblins, Dwarves, Earthen, and Gnomes use more mechanical tech. I lean more towards basing this more around mechanical tech with a few nods to Magitech. Perhaps one spec has Prometheus Ray, and another has an arcane beam, just as a nod to Draenei and Nightborne origins.

In any case, I definitely believe we’ll have a tech class by TLT.

I agree the standard should be this but they should have the ability, perhaps kinda like Metamorphosis, to summon up and pilot a temporary full mech.

I think like with Druids this should be a based on race what you get is different sort of scenario.

Though I would encourage Blizzard to unlock different options within the barber and allow us to earn the use of the other races versions through some means as well.

You’re so right, I completely forgot. I’ll add that to my OP.

Tbh, I think the easiest blanket solution would be Azerite Energy. Every race can find commonality in that, and “lore wise” the races can still keep their individuality, much like how Gnome Priests “lore wise” are combat medics, but for gameplay purposes just do the exact same thing as Holy Priests despite being a race of athiests.

Gazlowe in Heroes of the Storm has exactly this!

His “Robo-Goblin” backpack mech also upgrades to have buzzsaw hands to be more like a shredder. Whether they ended up making that a Melee DPS spec or Tank spec, I’d be so down.

Same, so confidently certain now. And given how heavily this worldsoul saga revolves around Azeroth, the Titans, and the mysterious Titan machinery everywhere, and us returning to Ulduar with the Keepers, it means Mimiron will likely take a major player role too. Which is a huge +1 for Azerite/Titan Tech sort of just acting as the central power source for all classes for homogenized gameplay.

I mention this in my OP! Couldn’t agree more. Give every race a mech suit or backpack exo suit themed off of the aesthetics of their race (like Druid racial forms), but then have generic appearances too that are tied to maybe weapon (like Druid Artifact appearances), and then have a proper customization system on top of that (like Druid Moonkin customization)

Seeing all this Tinker discussion makes me so hype omg

The Warcraft 30th Direct was effectively;

“WoW try not to think of Tinker while watching this Direct Challenge ((IMPOSSIBLE!!!))”

Seriously the last time I saw an expansion with this much focus on machines was probably the Isle of Mechagon- but this time it’s not just a single patch. This expansion is LOADED with Tinker-coded stuff so far. And as others have pointed out, Mimiron will be returning to the story when we return to Ulduar in The Last Titan.

This has to happen!!! Omg the teasing is off the charts

The trailer also did an excellent job showing us what an HD Goblin exo suit would look like instead of the old shredder model from MoP

Like all of these assets are built now. My days of RPing as a Tinker may finally be at an end. It feels so close, I can practically taste it.
