I’ve been taking my daily dose of hopium and copium for this class. GOD I would go crazy for this.
I want to be a ranger with guns and turrets or a robo commando. I want to make gizmos that buff my party. I want to be able to summon a giant tactical laser and blow my enemies away. I want to be able to summon an army of clockwork robots to swarm my enemies.
MarcellianOnline just posted a cool discussion video on the Tinker! Let’s make some more noise! Blizzard can’t ignore us forever! Just like they couldn’t ignore Demon Hunters or Player Housing either!
Honestly I’m just hear for the ride. Every time the Tinker discussion comes up again, it’s louder and louder than the last. Now we’re seeing content creators jumping back into the fray, megathreads like this one, and a dozen other forum posts with people sharing ideas, getting creative, and explaining how cool of a concept it is.
I’ve played this game for almost 20 years now, and only bother engaging on the forums when it’s about the Tinker class. Suffice to safe my forum engagement has certainly heated up over the years since Shadowlands came out lol. It’s not about the destination so much as the journey and letting Blizz know what we want! Player Housing and Demon Hunters also once existed solely as a “they’ll never happen” recurring demand from players too!
Just gotta be loud enough, express the merits of it, and… NEVAH GIVE UP!!!
Out of curiosity, would those in favor of such a class still be so if it meant the removal of Engineering as a profession? Not that I am saying it would necessarily mean that, but I could see it happening and always expect the worst from blizz.
Of course, while its fine for a non tinkering class to be an engineer, it would be very odd for a tinker to not be an engineer. Too much overlap, in my mind.
I honestly believe that’s a non-issue. Professions and classes operate in completely different spaces and serve different purposes. An Engineer cobbling together materials to make goggles has little effect on a Tinker tanking a raid inside a mech.
If anything, Engineering would be enhanced by a Tinker class. For example, Engineering could allow players to craft mods for Tinker mechs or robotic summons. Imagine for example that engineering allows you to change the color or model of your mech, the color of your laser beams, or the design of your turrets, or the type of robot you can summon for Pocket Factory. It’s a win-win for both parties.
Sure, of course. It could be something like that, but I imagine blizz eager to do things in the laziest way possible. I was mostly asking if people would be okay if tinker did come at the cost of engineering. Would that be a price you would be willing to pay to get what you desire?
These threads overall have been gaining new attention and traction. You may have noticed. Or maybe not. My point was to assist you and give you some motivation to really buckle down, take some time, and put together something coherent.
I distinctly remember the argument against Demon Hunter once upon a time
“They’d never have two classes with “Hunter” in it”
“How would Demon Hunter even work? Warlock already has Metamorphosis”
“Just say you’re an Illidan fanboy and move on. It’s never happening”
“They’d never make a new weapon type just for one class”
If this forum didn’t get purged and transformed into mini-reddit I would ever so gladly dig up the literal hundreds of comments that shared those exact senitments. I still remember being there for it all
History doesn’t repeat itself, but it does rhyme. And this time Tinker is the one on the hot seat ready for its big break soon!
