I mean yeah you could make anything fit, Blizz doesn’t really care at this point anyway.
I’m not against getting Tinkerer as a class but if we’re going to have a a Dragon Isles xpac then I’d rather see us get dragon themed everything.

Define “high technology” and a “part.”
We’ve had sideshow steampunk stuff since WarCraft II. Emphasis on sideshow. It was quirky stuff on the side - never the main course.
You know what happens when we get a focus on “high technology”? We get plot holes as big as the Vindicaar. If it gets a true focus, it should become the answer to any problems we confront. But technology can’t be the answer because they betrays the tone of the franchise.
“Why doesn’t the cannon in Azshara fire?”
“Why doesn’t the Vindicaar just nuke the Horde from space?”
There are no good answers to these questions because this level of technology essentially voids the premise of warcraft in the WarCraft franchise. It is a betrayal of the tone of the franchise to focus too much on this stuff.
Na man that’d be exhausting and would get stale.
Blizz’s lack of using all these techs in proper ways in the lore doesn’t omit their existence. And it’s not like its never used either. Look at gazlowe in BFA, The legion and naaru and all their super tech shenanigans. It’s there man.
I don’t know what you mean. How would getting a dragon themed class in a dragon themed xpac get stale?
I LOVE the amount of posts I see about the dragon isles and it would be amazing to see it as an expansion. However, this one might end up being like the Emerald Dream talk back in the day; only worthy to be a raid in the future. Don’t get me wrong, I want this. Not sure if blizzard wants this. They have been going for that light theme expansion here lately. I would like both, so we wait and see.
No, i’d be fine with a dragonsworn class too, but you said EVERYTHING should be dragons.
Having dragons, high tech, and w/e else can be thrown into a black canvas like the dragon isles would be all sorts of fun.
Well hey the way I see it, dragon isles leads to light/void via murozond summoning yrel and her light bound during the final patch of dragon isles.
Not that I’m against the idea or anything but… how exactly would you do a Dragonsworn class? I mean, there’s 5 dragonflights, and likely only 3 specs. Do you merge dragonflights together into one spec? What abilities would they have, and what playstyle?
Most importantly, though, do you really trust Blizz to be able to manage the idea well? Especially since there’s no examples of Dragonsworn in any of the warcraft games to take inspiration from? It’s literally a blank canvas and I honestly don’t think Blizz has the creativity anymore
True, it could act as a “break” expansion. Which we need, I am sick of saving the world.
Exactly, friend.
Ive seen various ideas to pull this off.
The dragonsworn could have chromatic powers, meaning all the flights are involved with the specs specializing in a flight or 2.
Or
The base is the red dragon flight while black = tanking, blue = ranged dps, bronze = melee dps, green = heals.
I’m not saying it doesn’t exist. Merely that it should not be a focus. Every time the focus drifts over to the techie stuff, we just rip open more and more plot holes because it is so divorced from the core tone of the franchise.
I hear you, but I dont see tinker’s doing this as how I described this in the OP.
Tinkers help dragon find isles
Dragon funds tinkers to spread their teachings.
Tinkers pioneer further dragon isles exploration by right of discovery.
There’s a myriad of ways you could swing it in the lore, but that’s not for me to decide. As for my confidence in the developers… the blank slate is what excites me, honestly. I see them fumbling when trying to manage expectations and modernize existing classes with all the baggage that they come with…
A blank slate would be a more honest assessment of their skill set. A class free from preconceptions developed specifically for the modern game. It could go horribly, or it could go fantastically. I’m willing to roll the dice.
Yeah, that’s why I’m on board with a dragonsworn class too.
How about this? To make up for SL and the last class only having 2 specs
(Make sure you’re sitting down cuz it’s about to get real)
We got a whopping TWO CLASSES, Tinker and Dragonsworn.
MMMMM
When they hire enough artists that we can have class sets regularly and when they hire enough devs to improve class balance such that survival hunter becomes PuG approved, then you may have a new class.
That’s like hoping to make a nice meal for your wife when you haven’t payed your gas bill in 5 months.
That’s a fair point. I suppose that if I’m waiting for the ex-Blizz vets to make a game in their various new studios to see if it’s truly Activisions fault or if the vets have simply lost their touch, I should at least give Blizzard the courtesy of the same chance with a blank slate class design
How’s this spin for those who believe engineering covers this fantasy.
Tinkers are Pilots, consumers, users of the tool’s they are given.
Like a combat pilot, they have an intimate understanding of how their machine works, but they cant engineer it into creation.
The Tinker’s Union provides the mechs and gadgets, but the tinker utilizes it.
Engineers actually build the gear. Like a hunter using a gun, they may not necessarily be an engineer to craft a gun, but they can sure as hell use it.
Full counter-offer:
How about we go to Undermine… we get a distress call from an unknown sender, explaining why Undermine has been cut off from the surface world, but in order to get down there, we need to make a deal with Wrathion as the Aspect of Earth. He empowers some of us with draconic energy as a vanguard against whatever threats we may find on our journey to the center of Azeroth.
Yep, playable Dragonsworn.
Once we close in on Undermine, we find it under siege from various factions. We have the Technocrats who are meritocracy of dedicated to technological development, regardless of morals or social structure. We have the Loyalists who want to preserve the status quo and relish their hedonistic isolationism. We have the Revolutionaries who want to open relations with the surface world. And a few more thrown in for good measure, if need be.
Yep, Tinker’s Unions as covenants.
On second thought… mixing themes just feels bad and weird. And it would be pretty disingenuous of me to try to subvert the potential Undermine origin for the Tinker class from proponents of that class just because I personally like Dragonsworn more.
But wrathion isn’t the aspect of earth and never was. Why would he give a crap about undermine in that scenario lol?
Dragons are boring.
Tinker come into play because mechanization are strong/ immune versus the lights influence when Yrel comes to invade and Turalyon simps for light lady.
