I just tried transferring several thousand timewarped badges from my warlock to my death knight to buy a mount from the timewalking vendor in Dalaran, but the badges I intended to transfer completely disappeared. I had over 6,000 on my warlock, and I went to type in 4000 to transfer to my DK, but it wouldn’t let me type 4000 - it just kept erasing that number). I didn’t even hit the transfer button, but the amount it kept forcing (3100 or so) just got yanked from my warlock’s total. So now I’m left with 3,165 on my warlock and ~600 on my DK (same I had before I intended to transfer).
I was standing right by the Timewalking vendor in Dalaran when it happened. I was my DK, and then I reloaded, then logged out and into my warlock. Flew/portal’d back to Dalaran - no dice. I’m out over 3,000 timewarped badges.
Edit: I can actually SEE the missing amount when I hover over the currency when I open the Timewalking vendor: it actually shows the amount on my warlock BEFORE I changed its name recently. For example, my current warlock name is Maudlock. And I see over 3k badges on that name, but I also see the missing amount on Muadweeb, which was the name of the SAME warlock before I changed its name. What gives??

Got the expected reply from Blizzard support providing links troubleshooting (not helpful whatsoever). I’ve replied to the ticket and asked for it to be escalated to a human/supervisor. Guess I’ll see what happens? Nothing in my in-game mail as of yet, either.
I’ve had this issue for over a month. I have gotten NO help from Blizzard on this… did the Customer Service ticket, got told they couldn’t replace them (after an automated response tried to auto complete my ticket with advice to go look up other known issues). Did a bug report, came here, posted a topic… still nothing from Blizzard. I don’t know how much total you lost to the void, but I’m down 36990 of them, and I’m still quite upset about it. I canceled my sub over it and am just playing til the current sub ends. They have until then to replace what their bug stole.

Welp, I got a response from a GM who told me the following, “Based on the screenshot you sent, please disable your addons and reload. This is a UI display issue”. What?! It’s not a display issue. I had over 6k badges the other night, and when I went to transfer them, without even hitting the Confirm button, half of them just disappeared and apparently went to a past iteration of the SAME character before I made a name change.
I’ll try disabling my addons (I’d rather not) and reloading, but I have a feeling it’s not going to return the ~3k badges that disappeared because apparently their code keeps a separate character/clone after a name change is made.

Addons don’t make currencies disappear from the characters… that is some outright lying right there.

That’s exactly what my immediate thought was. I’m no programmer, but I’ve been in IT long enough to understand coding well enough, and addons interfering with the base game code could certainly be a thing and is (UI errors pop up every now and then for me), but I’ve never had any addon straight up:
- Make my currency disappear when starting the transfer process.
- Make it look like there are two different versions of my character, one with the old name and one with the new name, with the currency split between them.
This forum won’t let me post hyperlinks, but maybe it’ll let me post a plain-text version? imgur.c o m/a/g8mhsyA Here you can see Maudlock, my main warlock, and Maudknight, which is the character I attempted to transfer badges to. And yet there’s also Muaddweeb, which was the name of my warlock before I changed it to Maudlock. This shows wherever currency is, whether it’s my bag, Currency tab or a vendor whenever I hover over any currency. I can now see thousands of other types of currency seemingly stuck to that Muaddweeb character name.
Im so glad you guys are standing up to this, I just lost mine the other day too and it took years to get all those badges, Im not giving up without a fight, and if all else cancel my sub.

Yeah just sounds like the GM was new / wasn’t really aware of the issue and was grasping straws. I’ve opened a ticket and logged a bug report and just got back a generic reply.
I got mine back, I hate to say it but you have to be a b**** karen if you want anything to get done. I hate being that way but its the only way apparently.
