Timewalking is useless

So, to list the reasons why timewalking is useless.

  1. The gear is subpar to everything you can get. Crafted lvl 50 is 100 while TW is 94 at 50. At 60 basic crafted gear is the same ilvl as TW and you can get 168 very easily. Doing your covenant chain gets you a whole suit withing hours of hitting 60 that can easily be upgraded to 197 (minus rings, trinkets, neck) with a 184 weapon.

  2. I thought i would lvl a toon through timewalking with fast queue times as a tank. I get 5k xp for completion vs 50k for a normal sl dungeon…why?

so, poor gear and crappy xp…why go in to TW this xpack? i get ilvl 200-207 from the epic caches every few days. Who cares about 1 peice of gear from completing 5 dungeons?

Gear for this used to be excellent to help gear up alts. Now it is borderline barely above 8.3 ilvl. Don’t know why they did this.

Timewalking week used to be the week to level alts. Fast exp, fast ques and solid starter gear once you dinged 120.

Nobody enjoys things anymore without a “reward.”

There are multiple ways to gear up now, some might be faster alternatives than TW to the point of cannibalizing TW rewards, but i won’t say that they’re useless now.

I like Timewalking dungeons because it’s a good blast from the past / helps give a different flavour to dungeoning after spamming the fruitloops out of current expansion dungeons – However yeah, the gear sucks from timewalking & definitely needs a buff.

Additionally, would be cool if they could add Timewalking-specific achievements & more new additional rewards / chance on drop.

Personally I’d love if they had Timewalking ZG & ZA raids, with a chance of the classic mounts from those raids dropping.

In regards to the Old School ZA / ZG raids & earning the classical mounts no longer available - For those objecting saying it would take away from those that ‘earnt’ their mount {cough} won RNG roll {cough} - A - They’d be earning in a way because they’d be running the raid scaled to their level, and B- People can literally go to the black market auction house and take a dump in your mouth by buying them with gold.

That’s something I noticed too on my alt, they really need to fix the exp rewards in Timewalking dungeons for non-max level characters.

Its more when you get used to doing something with what you thought was a reasonable reward and looked forward to it for the fun/reward factor combined…and then they rip away your rewards and replace it with something a fifth as nice.

Who cares about the gear. Just give me the timereaver already!

I dig TW if for no other reason than rocking old azerite gear and the heart of azeroth and having a blast simply obliterating things in prot.

Gear could definitely be improved, but for the fun of running old content, I enjoy it.

Yup. It’s a game.

I enjoy Timewalking for some expansions. I also enjoyed enjoying Timewalking while I leveled alts and nabbed some good alt gear.

This is why I call it Time Wasters or Time Wasting!

  1. Not everyone is running Mythics/Raids/PvP on a regular basis. Get a new char to 60, and that 200 iLvl item could well be an improvement.
  2. The real reward is the timewalking currency to buy a mount. All that time spent getting the Wrathcharger was totally worth it.
  3. You don’t have to be lvl 60 to run it. You can run it at far lower levels.

It’d be nice if the equipment rewards were better, but that’s just icing on the cake.

Just because something doesn’t work for you doesn’t mean it’s useless for other people.

I mean no matter how you look at it that is what playing a game is for, we knowingly indulge our brains for those dopamine and "pleasure center’ hits, and game companies knowingly exploit it to get us hooked and playing more. Taking out any rewards for a crap ton of effort is literally pointless…

Oh I agree. I’m just empathizing with others about the change to gear via TW overall. I don’t need the gear and have no issues with the gear scaling in TW (for max) as it stands. I’m just runnin’ em for the fun of it, after I got the 5 for the weekly.

Absolutely dig getting to use old gear!

Weird thing is this particular activity offers sub par rewards. Maybe you enjoy wasting time on repetitive activities.

The toys and stuff are neat. I got the Infinite Timereaver during the last BC timewalking. The ilvl 200 piece from the quest box is good for alts so I’ll run it on alts. I don’t think timewalking ever really gave viable gear in large quantities though. It doesn’t really need to.

There’s the rep buff and tokens you can buy with badges, the mounts, toys, materials. Honestly it’s just a nice way to catch up on things you might have wanted to get done in previous expansions - or get a few mounts.

It’s also really worth emphasizing that Timewalking is what grants the bonus rep gain for a particular expansions content when it’s up, and people who go after reputations and things of that nature love it. People were farming Netherwing rep in a day.

It helped significantly with a chunk of Ogri’la for me.

How high an item level would qualify as good for what amounts to facerolling a bunch of old dungeons?

Unless you get a really bad group, its near impossible to not beat TW dungeons. Unless that day “its so overtuned” as players seem to say often.

I expect at least 171 item level from in dungeon rewards.

Isn’t that heroic SL dungeon loot level?
