Timewalking Dungeons Updated - October 28

I had blues out of Stratholm and Deadmines, most of which I’d had for over 8 levels. :dracthyr_hehe_animated:

Sadly Blizz fails again with scaling issues while also trying to pad engagement numbers for management. Doesn’t help that they chose some of the worst dungeons in clasic to do this with.

We found a fast way to level, and they nerfed it

I’m happy to do TW with difficulty, just please make it something other than DM/Strat… They are BORING.

No you just had a good tank in current gear that’s all, Ive had that too where teh tank pretty much just solos the entire place with zero healing required.

Its weird you would take offense when I didn’t mention your skills as healer at all, why you might ask … because your skills as a healer matter zero when the tank doesn’t require your presence to finish a dungeon.

So go be offended … its a nothing burger to me.

make it harder for 80s, meanwhile lower levels are still a laugh-a-palooza clown fiesta. just make it easy for everyone and not alienate those at max level.

If you guys cannot get scaling right just go back its been how many years and the level scaling/ sync system you stole from other popular successful MMOs isnt working out for you. just stop stealing content you dont know how to manage after x years and go back to what yall can do well.

WHY? Why is it every time you guys do something good you cant help yourselves but to screw it up for everyone? Timewalking was a fun casual way to level during this event, there was not a single reason to crank up the difficulty like this. Can you not help yourselves? Like is there some kind of ulterior motive? Does it cost you too much to run the servers for so many players so you have to find a way to piss off some so they will stop playing? There is no logical reasoning, why can’t you just let casual content be?

I’ve run a few that went as you described, but just as many that went sideways SO FAST. Tank runs in & pulls every mob to nearly to the first open area in ZF, wipes the group then blames it on the rest of us “pulling the ones he left behind”. Earlier this morning, had a tank pull a corridor of mobs in Deadmines, die & run back as we finished them off, then pull a second corridor of mobs, die again & run back as we finished them off. That poor tank gave up at that point saying, “Get a better tank than me, I suck!” and wishing us luck as they left the group. I know my character is taking A LOT more damage than she did before, not to mention that I kept thinking the healer wasn’t healing me, but perhaps that was not the case, the healer simply could NOT heal me (thankfully being a Drood has its perks & I was able to heal myself up lol).

I agree with everyone else (and I didn’t even KNOW about equipping old sets & running them!!! I literally have a Void bank FULL of all my old sets!), this was a TERRIBLE change and should be reverted immediately. Basing every encounter in a TW dungeon/raid on ilvl DOES NOT make it more engaging or fun. It makes it tedious, boring and a chore.

We pay you so we can PLAY this game. PLAY is not WORK. We do not pay you so we can WORK in this game. We pay you so we can PLAY and HAVE FUN. Stop taking our fun away.

I wish you all the best where ever you end up!!! Have you tried ESO or Fallout76? Both are fun, engaging (and they have HOUSING!!!) with awesome players. Perhaps Lady Shaie will see you around in one (or both) of them.

Well, let’s not be too hasty. Rather than putting someone out of a job this close to the holidays AND in such a horrible economic climate, perhaps just relieve them of the obviously difficult burden of making such decisions.

THIS is not more challenging. It’s frustrating, tedious and boring. More challenging would be requiring us to use the mechanics we used to use back in the day, like CC & Silence.

If their initial goal is what they just did, they are about 10 years too late.

Tanks are getting smashed because they can’t chain-pull all trash before each boss to said boss anymore and healers can’t heal anyone because the ilvl scaling is TRASH. It’s ALWAYS been a wait for tank/heals if you’re DPS, now the wait will be longer than the “new, improved” dungeon. Yay for fixing what was not broken! /s

Deadmines is there. I’d LOVE for all of them to be part of the rotation though - maybe a different 5 each week?

Except we ALSO have people posting in here that they are not able to go back & steamroll the old content anymore. Apparently this change affects the dungeons & raids whether or not you’re doing the TW versions (at least that’s what I’m getting from the comments). So yeah, once again Blizzard “fixed” what was not broken and broke it.

Well that sucks. I don’t actually want to “feel powerful”, I just want to feel like I’m doing my part & not in danger of death if I fart sideways toward a mob. I’m a senior player, my reflexes are not as good as they were 20 years ago when I raided regularly, I have arthritis in my hands/fingers, carpal tunnel in my wrists & my vision is not as sharp as it was. I do not do any mythics, because they are stressful for me AND I would be a burden on the other 4 players. I’m not sure if I’ll continue doing TW once my various alts hit 80…

I thought it was supposed to be a cakewalk to level alts quickly & then once they are max level, to get a new & improved piece of gear each week. I thought it was an option for casual players who don’t have other options to gear up in order to be better able to help complete World Bosses/Events.

Also undocumented change, but you changed the behavior of mobs in dungeons, especially burning crusade ones. Mobs are spamming CCs a LOT more often than before, mobs healing casts are now almost full heals instead of only like 10-20% hp like before, and you even changed how some bosses behave (Shattered halls 3rd boss doesnt fixiate on players anymore at low hp, Kael’s room in Magister’s Terrace has no trash mobs there anymore).

If your intention was to make me stop caring about TW dungeons and not do them, then you succeeded. When this dungeons don’t even reward epic gear i can disenchant and they are harder than heroic TWW dungeons for no good reason, i’m not going to do them PERIOD.

You 100% dropped the ball here, especially with making mobs as hostile to chain pull as possible. I shouldn’t be spammed with cc’s in shattered halls half of the pull because i pulled 2 trash packs, its asinine.

As i often say: Stupidity should have a limit and Blizzard has no shortage of it when it comes to ruin the fun - and i am polite.
TW was a fun way to either:

  • Level an alt.
  • Using old gears, old trinkets, old enchants etc…

For the first, i’m trying to level some alt but it became a slog after 75 because you see… I’m not geared because the TW dungeons do not provide enough loot for that!
For the second, Blizzard destroyed an entire community who loved this part of the game.

Unless their IQ is really at the bottom of pit, the"more challenging" explanation is just a false excuse.

I really hope that less and less people do the TW dungeons, with this Blizzard should notice that they screwed everything.

You all DO realize that we’ve been doing the exact same dungeons for TW for OVER A DECADE, right? We do not need a challenge, not in this way at least. Maybe change up the dungeons so we’re doing something different? Maybe fix scaling so it works correctly? THIS “solution” was NOT the answer to the few who complained about them being run so quickly.

And please understand, I’m not aiming this at you Kaivax. I know you are just the messenger & I’m not into shooting the messenger. I’m sorry you get stuck in the middle of all the crap decisions & frustrated/ticked off players.

congrats leveling a toon once it hits 71 a run becomes a ez mode clear or a +10 mythic where a single pack can murder you. you killed TW. and who cares for a challenge in old dungeons i hated dire maul back then and it still sucks now

I have no interest for something in between normal and heroic, especially while I’m leveling. To me timewalking will always be a leveling aid. I dont want ‘engaging’ content when I am leveling alts I want brainless farm mode because I have done it all before

So i just ran some of these with the many alts i have and its horrible on scaling for tanks.

Levels 70 - 73 are gods, cant be killed and do giga dmg. Fun times.

74 - 79 is the level where the scaling goes nuts and youll end up taking much much more damage then before. Must mitigate or die on big pulls.

Also very low levels are gods too. Just make sure you have life steal enchant on weapon.

Scaling is still crazy. For example Black Temple. The top 10 DPS were all lvl30 to 35, wasn’t even close, with ALL lvl80s at the bottom of dps.
As for TW, they at least made additional changes, like several mob packs have been removed, and the mines in The Blood Furnace are much larger and easier to see as well as have a red circle around them now.

I feel bad for any newer players trying to tank or heal these timewalking dungeons for the first time. There is no reason why this side content needs to be challenging at all, just made me stop queuing them at all.

What a trainwreck. Revert the changes!

Normally they say if it isn’t broken then don’t fix it.

I, however, say if it isn’t broken then give Blizzard a week and it will be.
