That’s the opposite of all the feedback regarding the Frost tree. Aside from making Flurry a charge-based system (which players told Blizzard to do immediately after it was introduced in Legion) Frost is looking like absolute garbage. It’s getting nothing particularly new, no changes to gameplay and there are already multiple dull or dead talents that can’t be fixed through tuning. Not only that, but the RoP + IV uptime game is still 90% of what a Frost Mage will be doing.
Like OP I gave up on Mage (and retail) earlier in the expansion because it just became a degenerate mess of upkeep and disappointment. Torghast, legendary costs, resources, lack of raid loot, chores, being massively outgeared by players who spam dungeons all day, borrowed power, feeling obligated to change legendary/covenant every patch… Hard pass on all of that.
I play to have fun, relax for a bit and raid with the same friends I have for 15 years. In those aspects, classic is just leaps and bounds ahead.
